Amnesia Ibiza exists in a space between eras. Few venues on the island carry such a direct connection to Ibiza’s formative nightlife years while continuing to operate at full intensity in the present. Amnesia represents continuity through transformation, holding onto the spirit of early Ibiza while adapting to each new generation of clubbers.
The club’s origins trace back to the 1970s when the building functioned as a rural finca before being transformed into a nightlife venue. It later came under the direction of Antonio Escohotado and eventually the Matutes family, who guided its evolution into one of the island’s defining institutions. By the late 1980s and early 1990s, Amnesia had become central to the development of Balearic club culture, hosting nights that shaped the sound and identity of Ibiza as it became internationally recognized.
Amnesia is defined by its dual-room structure. The Terrace is its most iconic space, enclosed yet filled with natural light during early hours, creating a unique transition between night and morning. As the sun rises through the glass panels and the crowd remains in motion, the room takes on an atmosphere that feels inseparable from Ibiza’s mythology. It is a setting where time becomes secondary to rhythm.
