Food creator and gastronomic influencer Celeste de la Banda will host “Cómete las islas,” one of the main events at the opening of the IV GastroIbz. Gastro Ibiza y Formentera fair.

The event will take place on September 18 and 19 at the Ibiza Exhibition Centre, alongside the 19th Ibiza Beer Fair. The organisers say the combined events attract around 10,000 residents and visitors each year.

De la Banda, who was raised in Formentera, will lead the opening evening's culinary conversation featuring five chefs from Ibiza and Formentera.

Five Chefs, Five Island-Inspired Dishes

The “Cómete las islas” showcooking will bring together five recognised chefs, each presenting one of their signature creations.

The line-up includes:

• Catalina Riera and Nuria Riera, from Ca n'Alfredo

• David Reartes, chef of Dúo and Retro

• Óscar Molina, from La Gaia, which holds one Michelin star

• Daniel Figueroa, chef and owner of Ficus

• Luciano D'Ambrosio, chef and owner of Trattoria del Mar and Bistró del Mar

Each chef will present a dish based on local products from Ibiza and Formentera, explaining its inspiration and connection to the islands.

Rather than being a traditional showcooking where one complete recipe is prepared from beginning to end, the format will focus on several chefs presenting their own dishes, discussing their techniques and ingredients and finishing or plating their creations in front of the audience.

Local Oil and Wine Take Centre Stage

The dishes will also feature a double pairing with products from the islands.

The event will showcase oils from the IGP Aceite de Ibiza and wines from the IGP Vino de Ibiza.

The wine selection will include bottles from Bodegas Can Rich and Ibizkus, while the participating local olive oil producers will include Can Miquel Guasch, Joan Benet from Ibiza and Ca na Platera from Formentera.

The idea is to explore the connection between the islands' cuisine, agricultural products and wine through a single event.

When Is the Showcooking?

The “Cómete las islas” session will take place on Friday, September 18 at 8pm, following the official opening of the fair.

The opening will include a performance by the Colla de sa Bodega and actor David Pomar.

The showcooking and culinary discussion is expected to last approximately one hour, with De la Banda guiding the conversation between the chefs and the audience.

More Than Just a Showcooking

GastroIbz will also bring together restaurants, producers and food businesses in a market-style format.

Participants include Carn & Coop, Agroeivissa, Sherium Group, Sal y Fred Salchichas, Camalic, Can Mario, Jamones Los Andaluces, Sa Trugeta, 97 12ª, Ficus, La Gula and La Santería.

Visitors will be able to discover different local products and culinary projects while also enjoying the wider programme of the two-day event.

GastroIbz and the Ibiza Beer Fair

GastroIbz will once again take place alongside the Ibiza Beer Fair, which is celebrating its 19th edition.

The beer event will feature more than 200 national and international references, while music throughout the two days will come from DJs including Miguel Vera, Sr. Cardona, Toni Torres and Petit and Vázquez from La Movida Ibiza.

The combination of food, local products, beer and music has become an established autumn event at the Ibiza Exhibition Centre.

A Celebration of Pitiusan Gastronomy

This year's GastroIbz places particular emphasis on the products that define the culinary identity of Ibiza and Formentera.

With local chefs presenting their dishes alongside island-produced olive oil and wine, the “Cómete las islas” showcooking is designed to put the territory itself at the centre of the experience.

For Celeste de la Banda, who grew up in Formentera and has built a following around food content, the event also provides an opportunity to bring the islands' gastronomy to a wider audience.
