Santa Eulària Is Getting a Nearly €1 Million Entrance Upgrade

The entrance to Santa Eulària des Riu is set for a major improvement, with the Consell de Ibiza and Santa Eulària Town Hall signing an agreement to move forward with works along the Can Marçà section of the EI-200 road.

The project has a maximum budget of €944,391.17, financed by the Consell, and is primarily focused on improving pedestrian safety, accessibility and mobility through the area.

Improving the Entrance to Santa Eulària

The works will cover approximately 700 metres of the EI-200, between kilometres 3.7 and 4.4, as the road passes through Can Marçà towards the centre of Santa Eulària.

The area is used by residents, businesses, public transport and motorists, creating a busy mix of traffic and pedestrian activity.

The authorities say the project is intended to make the route safer and more comfortable for people who live in the area and use it every day.

A Focus on Pedestrian Safety

One of the main priorities of the project is improving conditions for pedestrians.

The existing road serves several different functions, with homes and businesses located alongside the route and people needing to cross or walk along the area.

The planned improvements are therefore designed to better organise the space and improve safety and accessibility.

Santa Eulària mayor Carmen Ferrer highlighted the importance of making the area safer for pedestrians while managing the different uses of the road.

The Consell Will Finance the Works

Under the agreement, the Consell de Ibiza has taken responsibility for financing the project, while Santa Eulària Town Hall will now handle the tendering and execution of the works.

The Consell previously prepared the project.

The same model of cooperation between the two administrations has already been used for other improvements to roads and built-up areas in the municipality, including projects in Ca na Negreta and Sant Carles.

A Project Years in the Making

Although the agreement has only now been signed, the Can Marçà improvement project has been in development for several years.

The proposal was already included in the Consell's plans in 2023 to improve pedestrian safety and mobility on the island's road network.

Further progress was presented by the Consell and Santa Eulària Town Hall in September 2025, when the administrations outlined their planned division of responsibilities.

The latest agreement now allows the project to move towards its construction phase.

What the Investment Means for the Area

The nearly €945,000 investment is aimed at improving a section of road that forms an important approach to Santa Eulària.

For residents, the focus is on safer pedestrian movement and better accessibility.

For drivers, the project will also help organise a stretch of road where residential areas, businesses, public transport and through traffic currently meet.

The authorities have described the project as an improvement not simply to the road itself, but to the wider environment around it.

Part of Wider Improvements

The Can Marçà project forms part of broader efforts to improve mobility and safety on Ibiza's road network.

The Consell has been working with municipalities on improvements to several urban and semi-urban road sections, particularly where roads pass directly through populated areas.

In Santa Eulària, similar cooperation has already been used for projects in Ca na Negreta and Sant Carles.

What Happens Next?

With the agreement now signed, Santa Eulària Town Hall will move forward with the tender and execution process.

The project represents an investment of up to €944,391.17 and will focus on the Can Marçà section of the EI-200 at the entrance to Santa Eulària.

For an area used daily by residents, pedestrians, businesses and motorists, the aim is to create a safer and more accessible approach to the town.
