Ibiza Opens New Direct Access From EI-10 to Josep Riquer Llobet

September 17, 2026

Ibiza Town is opening a new direct access from the EI-10 first ring road to Carrer Josep Riquer Llobet on Thursday, September 17, creating a new connection between the ring road and the city centre.

The new access forms part of a wider municipal project designed to improve connections between the EI-10 and Ibiza's urban streets, while easing traffic movements and reducing congestion on nearby roads.

New Entry From the EI-10

The work on Josep Riquer Llobet involved replacing part of the existing pavement with a new incorporation lane from the EI-10.

The layout allows vehicles travelling along the ring road to enter Josep Riquer Llobet directly rather than having to follow alternative routes through surrounding streets.

Designed Following a Road Safety Study

The new connection was designed following a suitability and road-safety assessment.

The study considered factors including road signs, vehicle speeds, stopping distances and visibility conditions before the layout was approved. According to the municipality, the aim is to make access from the EI-10 more straightforward, improve traffic flow and help reduce existing queues in the surrounding streets.

First of Three EI-10 Connections

Josep Riquer Llobet is the first of three planned interventions linking the EI-10 more directly with the city.

Further works are underway on Carrer Vicent Serra i Orvay, while the overall project also includes another connection at Carrer Canàries.

The three interventions have a combined budget of €96,468.58, including VAT.

€9,075 for Josep Riquer Llobet

The specific works at Josep Riquer Llobet were awarded to Matriz Proyectos y Obras S.L. for €9,075 including VAT.

The contract was formalised on July 18, 2026, with construction beginning at the start of September.

Part of the Wider Transformation of the EI-10

The works form part of the municipality's wider strategy following the transfer of the relevant section of the EI-10 from the Consell d'Eivissa to Ibiza Town Council.

In December 2025, the Consell transferred responsibility for the section between ses Figueretes and Can Misses, allowing the municipality to begin implementing specific improvements while work continues towards a larger transformation of the ring road and its integration with the city.

Traffic Improvements for the City

The municipal government says the three interventions will strengthen connections between the EI-10 and surrounding neighbourhoods, improve vehicle and pedestrian routes and increase road safety.

The objective is to introduce immediate improvements while the longer-term plans for the transformation of the ring road continue to develop.

The New Access Opens September 17

The Josep Riquer Llobet connection will open on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

It marks the first completed intervention in the three-part project and gives motorists a new direct way to enter the city from the EI-10, while construction continues on the remaining connections at Vicent Serra i Orvay and Canàries.
