PROPERTIES

The name Lapis Lazuli comes from the Latin lapis, meaning "stone," and the Persian lazhuward, meaning "blue."

It is composed of multiple minerals, mainly Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite, and Pyrite, which provides the stone with beautiful golden effects or reflections that immediately catch the eye.

One of the peoples who most used this mineral were the Egyptians; for them, it was a good luck stone. For example, they placed it on sacred scarabs or on funerary masks. Furthermore, it is thought that it was also used as medicine. For this, lapis lazuli was crushed and the resulting powder was ingested.
