Passengers travelling between Ibiza and Madrid with Iberia Express now have more flexibility to change their travel plans on the day of departure.

The airline's "Mueve tu vuelo" service allows customers with eligible fares to move their flight to an earlier or later departure on the same day, free of charge, provided the change is made up to two hours before the original scheduled departure.

The service is available on the Madrid-Ibiza route as well as Madrid-Mallorca. It is also available between Madrid and Menorca from April through the end of October.

How "Mueve tu vuelo" works

The service allows eligible passengers to change the time of their flight on the same day of travel.

For example, a passenger booked on a later Madrid-Ibiza flight can request an earlier available service, or move to a later flight, subject to availability.

The change must be made no later than two hours before the originally scheduled departure time.

The service can be managed through the Iberia Express website or at the airline's check-in counters at the airport.

Which fares are included?

The free same-day change is not available to every Iberia Express passenger.

It is included with the following fares:

• Balear Plus

• Balear Flex

• Balear Business Plus

• Balear Business Flex

The service therefore depends on the fare purchased rather than simply on travelling to or from Ibiza.

What happens if you have already checked in?

Passengers who have already completed online check-in do not need to repeat the process after changing their flight.

They simply need to download the new boarding pass for the selected flight.

Additional services already purchased, such as checked baggage or priority boarding, remain with the new flight.

Seat allocation, however, depends on availability on the new flight.

More Madrid-Ibiza flights this winter

The flexibility comes as Iberia Express increases its winter connectivity between Madrid and the Balearic Islands.

The airline says it will operate close to 200 flights per week between Madrid and the Balearics during the winter season.

The Madrid-Ibiza route will have up to five flights per day in each direction, giving passengers more options when using the same-day change service.

Madrid-Mallorca will have up to 12 flights per day in each direction.

Iberia Express has also added two daily frequencies on the Madrid-Mallorca route, with departures from Madrid at 06:00 and 19:30 and departures from Mallorca at 08:00 and 21:25.

Designed for changing travel plans

The airline says the service is particularly useful for residents and frequent travellers whose plans can change at short notice.

Rather than having to book a completely new ticket, eligible passengers can use the available flights on the same day to adjust their travel schedule.

The option is particularly relevant on the Madrid-Ibiza route, where several daily services provide more opportunities to change departure times.

An option for Ibiza travellers

For passengers travelling between Ibiza and Madrid, the main benefit is flexibility.

A qualifying passenger who needs to leave earlier or later can check whether another Iberia Express flight is available that day and request the change before the two-hour deadline.

The service is subject to the conditions of the fare and availability on the alternative flight.

It does not mean that every Iberia Express ticket can be changed for free, and it does not apply to flights outside the routes covered by the programme.

With Iberia Express also increasing its Madrid-Ibiza winter schedule to as many as five flights per day in each direction, passengers on eligible fares will have more opportunities to adjust their travel plans without paying a flight-change fee.
