A court in Marbella has ordered provisional detention without bail for an 18-year-old man arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of plastic surgeon Alexander Aslani at his clinic in the Málaga municipality.

The suspect, a Swedish national, appeared before the court on Saturday, 10 October, two days after his arrest. The shooting took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, 7 October, inside the clinic where Aslani worked.

Surgeon Killed Inside His Marbella Clinic

Aslani, 57, was shot several times in the head at his clinic in the Panorama building, in the Río Real area of Marbella, at approximately 18:00.

The doctor was treated by emergency medical personnel, but they were unable to save him.

The clinic was founded by Aslani in 2018. Police launched a homicide investigation following the shooting, with officers working to establish the circumstances of the attack and identify everyone who may have been involved.

Suspect Arrested in Benalmádena

The 18-year-old was arrested on Thursday, 8 October, in a tourist apartment in Benalmádena, around 15 kilometres from Marbella.

Investigators are examining whether the suspect acted alone or received assistance from other people. Reports have indicated that the alleged shooter may have been acting on behalf of someone else, but the identity of any alleged organiser has not been publicly established.

The court’s decision means the suspect will remain in provisional custody while the investigation continues. It does not constitute a conviction.

Possible Motive Remains Under Investigation

A disagreement involving a client has been reported as one of the main hypotheses being examined by investigators. One line of inquiry concerns a person who may have been dissatisfied with a previous procedure, while another involves a possible disagreement before a planned operation.

Neither explanation has been established as the motive for the killing.

Investigators initially ruled out a connection with organised crime, according to reports citing sources close to the case. The investigation remains open, and the proceedings are under judicial secrecy.

Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding Aslani’s death, including whether other people were involved in planning or facilitating the attack.
