PROPERTIES

The name Lapis Lazuli comes from the Latin word "lapis," meaning "stone," and the Persian word "lazhuward," meaning "blue."

It is formed by multiple minerals, mainly Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite, and Pyrite, which provides the stone with some truly beautiful golden effects or reflections that catch the eye as soon as you see them.

One of the peoples who most used this mineral were the Egyptians; for them, it was the stone of good luck. For example, they placed it on sacred scarabs or on funerary masks. What's more, it is thought that it was also used as medicine. For this, lapis lazuli was crushed and the resulting powder was taken.
