The name Lapis Lazuli comes from the Latin lapis, meaning "stone", and the Persian lazhuward, meaning "blue".

It is composed of multiple minerals, mainly Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite, which gives the stone some really beautiful golden effects or reflections that attract attention as soon as you see them.

One of the peoples who most used this mineral were the Egyptians; for them, it was a good luck stone. For example, they placed it on sacred scarabs or on funerary masks. Moreover, it is believed that it was also used as medicine. For this, lapis lazuli was crushed and the resulting powder was taken.
