PROPERTIES

The name Lapis Lazuli comes from the Latin "lapis," meaning "stone," and the Persian "lazhuward," meaning "blue."

It is formed by multiple minerals, mainly Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite, and Pyrite, which gives the stone some truly beautiful golden effects or reflections that catch the eye immediately.

One of the peoples who most used this mineral were the Egyptians; for them, it was a good luck stone. For example, they placed it on sacred scarabs or on funerary masks. Moreover, it is thought that it was also used as medicine. For this, lapis lazuli was crushed and the resulting powder was ingested.
