Sant Antoni Police Issue 90 Drug-Possession Reports During Ibiza Nightclub Closing Weekend

October 14, 2026

Local Police in Sant Antoni de Portmany issued 90 reports for alleged unlawful drug possession in public places during a special operation carried out over Ibiza’s nightclub closing weekend. The operation involved additional officers and support from the Formentera Local Police canine unit.

Of the 90 reports, 86 concerned foreign nationals. Pink cocaine, commonly known as tusi, was the substance most frequently detected during the controls.

No arrests were made during the operation.

Special Police Operation During Club Closings

The operation was deployed during a busy weekend associated with the closing events of Ibiza’s major nightclubs, when the island experiences increased activity linked to nightlife.

Six additional Local Police officers joined the operation, alongside the canine unit from Formentera. The unit consisted of a handler and Summer, a dog trained to detect controlled substances.

Officers carried out checks in public spaces as part of efforts to prevent unlawful behaviour and maintain public safety during periods of increased nightlife activity.

86 of the 90 Reports Concerned Foreign Nationals

According to the information released by the authorities, 86 of the 90 reports involved foreign nationals. The published figures do not provide a detailed breakdown of nationalities.

The most frequently detected substance was pink cocaine, known as tusi. The name is commonly used for substances that may contain different ingredients, meaning the label alone does not establish the precise chemical composition of every substance seized.

The reports concerned alleged unlawful possession of drugs in public places under Spain’s Organic Law 4/2015 on the protection of public security.

No Arrests Made

Police said the operation did not uncover quantities of drugs or other indications sufficient to suggest that the substances seized were intended for trafficking.

As a result, no arrests were made during the checks.

The distinction is important: the 90 reports concerned alleged possession offences, and the operation did not result in arrests for drug trafficking.

Prevention and Public Safety

Sant Antoni Local Police said operations of this kind form part of their preventive and enforcement work during periods of high activity associated with nightlife.

The objective is to reinforce controls, deter unlawful conduct and help maintain public safety during the busiest periods of the island’s clubbing calendar.

The operation forms part of the wider policing effort accompanying Ibiza’s end-of-season closing events, which attract large numbers of residents and visitors to the island.
