Ibiza to Hold Two Memorial Events for Families Affected by Pregnancy and Infant Loss

October 14, 2026

Ibiza will host two commemorative gatherings on 15 and 17 October to honour babies who died during pregnancy, childbirth or shortly after birth. Organised by local association Tribu de Estrellas Ibiza, the events aim to give bereaved families a space for remembrance, solidarity and support while raising awareness of a form of grief that can often remain unspoken.

Both gatherings will feature live string music and are open to families, friends and members of the public who wish to take part.

Thursday: A Memorial Gathering at Ibiza’s New Cemetery

The first event will take place on Thursday, 15 October, at 18:00 at the Espacio del Recuerdo, located in Ibiza’s New Cemetery.

The gathering will offer a quiet space for reflection and remembrance. Attendees will receive flowers as a symbol of love and memory for the babies being honoured.

The memorial space was established to provide families affected by gestational, perinatal and neonatal loss with a dedicated place to remember their children.

Saturday: Candlelight Tribute Outside Hospital Can Misses

The second gathering is scheduled for Saturday, 17 October, outside Hospital Can Misses in Ibiza Town. The programme begins at 18:00, with the welcome and reading of a manifesto scheduled for 18:30.

The evening will continue with readings of letters dedicated to the babies at 18:45, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony and the reading of their names at 19:15.

The ceremony is intended to recognise the lives remembered by their families and offer a collective moment of support to people who have experienced these losses.

Municipal Buildings to Be Illuminated in Pink and Blue

The commemoration will also involve the municipalities of Ibiza Town, Sant Josep and Santa Eulària, which will illuminate municipal buildings in pink and blue during the commemorative week.

In Ibiza Town, the Casal d’Igualtat will be illuminated, while the town halls in Sant Josep and Santa Eulària will also take part.

The lighting initiative aims to increase public awareness and show solidarity with families affected by pregnancy and infant loss.

Support for Bereaved Families Throughout the Year

Beyond the October events, Tribu de Estrellas Ibiza provides ongoing support to families who have experienced gestational, perinatal or neonatal bereavement.

The association organises monthly meetings at the Casal d’Igualtat in Ibiza Town, including talks and workshops where families can share their experiences and find support from others who understand their loss.

The organisation emphasises that grief does not end when a commemorative date passes and that families should not have to navigate the experience alone.
