Noa has finally found a home after spending more than four years in the care of Ibiza's animal protection centre.
The dog was abandoned in March 2022, tied outside Hospital Can Misses in Ibiza, in an extremely poor state of health. Four years later, she has been adopted by Gema López, a volunteer at the Sa Coma animal protection centre who already adopted another dog from the facility.
Noa Was Found in Extremely Poor Condition
When Noa was found outside Can Misses in March 2022, her condition was described as extremely serious.
She was severely underweight, had areas of missing fur and numerous infected, untreated wounds. She was also suffering from untreated leishmaniosis and had lost one eye.
The animal was taken into the care of Sa Coma, where the team began the long process of helping her recover.
The centre's own information confirms that Noa arrived extremely thin and with untreated leishmaniosis.
A Long Recovery at Sa Coma
Noa's recovery required veterinary treatment and continued care.
The Clínica Veterinaria San Jorge and veterinarian Miguel Quiñones Rey were among those involved in her recovery, according to the centre.
Over time, her leishmaniosis was stabilised and she was sterilised.
Her physical condition improved dramatically compared with the state in which she arrived at Sa Coma.
The centre's records describe her as having recovered well following treatment, although she remained somewhat distrustful while continuing to adapt.
Four Years Later, She Has a Family
Noa's story took another important turn when Gema López decided to adopt her.
Gema is a volunteer at Sa Coma and had already adopted another dog from the centre.
Noa will now share her new home with Hero, the other dog Gema previously adopted from Sa Coma.
For the animal protection centre, the adoption marks the end of a particularly long journey for a dog whose condition when she arrived made her recovery especially challenging.
A Special Adoption for Sa Coma
Sa Coma celebrated Gema's decision and thanked her for giving Noa a permanent home.
The adoption also means that Noa's new life remains connected to the people who cared for her during her recovery.
After years under the protection of Sa Coma, she can now begin a new chapter in a family home.
Her story is a reminder of the difference that veterinary treatment, long-term care and adoption can make for animals arriving at a protection centre in serious condition.
From Abandonment to a New Beginning
Noa's story began in March 2022, when she was found tied outside Can Misses in a severely weakened state.
She then spent years receiving care and recovering at Sa Coma.
Now, four years later, she has finally found a permanent home with someone who already knew her and had been part of the centre's work.
For Noa, the long wait for a family is finally over.
She has a new home, a new companion in Hero and a new opportunity to enjoy the life that began with her recovery at Sa Coma.
