The death of CD Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel Alameda has prompted an emotional response from the football community in Ibiza, where the 30-year-old striker was also known to supporters because UD Ibiza had previously been interested in signing him.
De Miguel died on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, following a serious collision during Tenerife's match against FC Andorra on Monday evening. His death was confirmed by CD Tenerife, with tributes subsequently arriving from clubs and football organisations across Spain.
UD Ibiza published an official message of condolence, expressing its deepest sympathy to De Miguel's family, friends, teammates and everyone connected with CD Tenerife.
UD Ibiza Pays Tribute to the Player
In its statement published on 3 November, UD Ibiza said it deeply regretted De Miguel's death and wished to send his family, friends and teammates all its affection, support and strength.
The club also extended its condolences to the entire CD Tenerife community, saying it shared in their grief during such a difficult moment.
The message ended with the words: “Descanse en paz.”
According to local reporting by Noudiari, UD Ibiza also cancelled its training session scheduled for Tuesday as a mark of mourning. The report attributed this information to Fútbol Pitiuso.
UD Ibiza Had Been Interested in Signing Jesús de Miguel
De Miguel's name was not unfamiliar in Ibiza. During the summer 2026 transfer window, UD Ibiza was reportedly among the clubs interested in securing his services.
On 9 August, Periódico de Ibiza reported that UD Ibiza was very interested in the forward, who was then under contract with CD Tenerife.
The report, citing transfer journalist Ángel García, said Tenerife was reportedly seeking a transfer fee of between €200,000 and €250,000. It also mentioned interest from SD Huesca and a possible situation involving Real Zaragoza.
However, no transfer to UD Ibiza materialised. De Miguel remained a CD Tenerife player.
The reported interest provides an additional connection between the player and the island, although he never represented UD Ibiza.
A Tragedy That Has Moved Spanish Football
De Miguel suffered the fatal incident during the closing stages of Monday's Segunda División match between CD Tenerife and FC Andorra at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.
He was involved in a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono while chasing a long ball. The forward collapsed on the pitch and received emergency medical attention before being transferred by ambulance to hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, his condition deteriorated overnight. CD Tenerife confirmed that he died at 08:00 on Tuesday, aged 30.
The Spanish Football Federation also issued a statement of condolence and postponed the football fixtures scheduled for Tuesday in the Copa del Rey and Copa de la Reina.
Across the football community, clubs, players and supporters have shared messages of sympathy following the loss of a player whose career had taken him through several Spanish clubs before his time at Tenerife.
For the football community in Ibiza, the news has also brought back the summer transfer story in which UD Ibiza had considered bringing the Madrid-born striker to the island.
Jesús de Miguel Alameda is being remembered by his former teammates, supporters and the wider Spanish football community. May he rest in peace.
