Mallorca Has Spain’s Highest-Rated Mercadona, According to Google Reviews Study

October 16, 2026

A supermarket in Cala d’Or leads a comparison of 1,529 Mercadona stores with 4.62 stars out of five. Two other stores in Mallorca also rank among Spain’s 30 highest-rated branches.

The highest-rated Mercadona supermarket in Spain, according to a study of Google Maps reviews, is located in Cala d’Or, in the Mallorcan municipality of Santanyí.

The store, at Carrer des Comellars, 17, received an average rating of 4.62 out of five stars from 530 customer reviews, placing it first among the 1,529 Mercadona supermarkets included in the analysis.

The study examined more than three million customer reviews to compare ratings across the supermarket chain. Its findings also put two other stores in Mallorca among Spain’s 30 highest-rated Mercadona branches.

The results reflect customer ratings on Google Maps rather than an official ranking issued by Mercadona. They are also a snapshot of reviews collected on 8 October 2026, so ratings may change over time.

Cala d’Or Takes the Top Position

The Cala d’Or branch achieved the highest average score in the national comparison, ahead of stores in Alicante, Lanzarote, Madrid and the Canary Islands.

Its 4.62-star rating was calculated from 530 reviews. The study included only stores that were open and had received at least 500 Google reviews, excluding closed locations and listings that did not correspond to individual supermarkets.

One customer review highlighted the staff’s helpfulness and friendly service, illustrating the importance that individual shoppers may place on their experience in store. However, the overall ranking was calculated from the combined ratings rather than individual comments.

Two More Mallorcan Stores Make Spain’s Top 30

Cala d’Or was not the only Mallorcan location to perform strongly.

The Mercadona on Avenida Juan Carlos I, 89, in Capdepera, ranked 15th nationally, with 4.42 stars from 2,338 reviews.

A third branch, on Carrer Cristòfol Colom in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, ranked 26th, with 4.38 stars from 3,009 reviews.

Together, the three stores place Mallorca prominently in the study’s highest-rated group, although the number of reviews behind each score varies considerably.

The Ten Highest-Rated Mercadona Stores in the Balearic Islands

The regional ranking includes stores across Mallorca, with ratings ranging from 4.62 stars at the top to 4.26 in tenth place.

Rank Location Google rating Reviews
1 Cala d’Or, Santanyí 4.62 530
2 Capdepera 4.42 2,338
3 Sant Llorenç des Cardassar 4.38 3,009
4 Santa Margalida 4.34 3,336
5 Platja de Palma, Palma 4.32 2,573
6 Autopista de Llevant, Palma 4.32 2,921
7 Campos 4.29 3,313
8 s’Arenal, Palma 4.27 2,128
9 Palmanova, Calvià 4.27 3,851
10 Mercat de l’Olivar, Palma 4.26 2,980

All ten stores in this regional list are in Mallorca.

How Do the Balearic Islands Compare with Spain?

Across the 47 Balearic Mercadona stores included in the study, the average rating was 4.15 stars, slightly above the national average of 4.13.

The Balearic Islands ranked eighth among the 16 autonomous communities included in the regional comparison. Only communities with at least ten qualifying stores were considered, so this is not a ranking of every Spanish territory.

The study calculated the average by giving each qualifying store equal weight, regardless of how many reviews it had received. As a result, a store with 530 reviews contributed as much to the regional average as one with several thousand.

Which Mercadona Has the Lowest Rating?

The study identified the branch in Palau-solità i Plegamans, Catalonia, as the lowest-rated store in the national sample, with 3.74 stars from 1,419 reviews.

Within the Balearic Islands, the lowest-rated qualifying branch was in Es Pont d’Inca, Marratxí, with 3.93 stars from 1,209 reviews. It ranked 49th among the lowest-rated stores nationally.

These results show that customer ratings vary between branches, even within the same supermarket chain. They do not, by themselves, establish the reasons for those differences or provide a complete measure of product quality, prices or service.

How the Ranking Was Compiled

The analysis was carried out by SEO Backlinks using Google Maps data collected on 8 October 2026.

Researchers examined 1,529 Mercadona stores and 3,010,387 reviews. To qualify, a store had to be open and have at least 500 reviews. Temporarily or permanently closed supermarkets and listings for facilities such as logistics centres were excluded.

The researchers calculated each store’s average from the distribution of one- to five-star ratings, rather than relying solely on the rounded score displayed on Google Maps. This allowed them to distinguish between stores that appeared to have the same displayed rating but had slightly different underlying averages.

The findings provide a comparison of customer feedback at a specific point in time. As new reviews are posted, individual scores and positions in the ranking may change.
