Ibiza Innovation Summit Showcases Local Technology Beyond Tourism With AI, Sustainability and 18 Projects

October 28, 2026

Ibiza has hosted the first edition of the Ibiza Innovation Summit, bringing together technology companies, entrepreneurs and representatives of the local innovation ecosystem to explore how digital solutions can support businesses and address challenges affecting the islands.

The event took place on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at the Recinto Ferial de Ibiza (FECOEV). Eighteen technology companies and projects were announced as participants, presenting solutions spanning artificial intelligence, automation, cybersecurity, robotics, engineering, sustainability and digital services.

Organised by the Balearic Islands' innovation network in collaboration with local business institutions, the summit aimed to increase the visibility of technology developed or offered in Ibiza and Formentera and encourage businesses to work with local providers.

Technology Companies Present Their Solutions

The summit gave participating companies a space to demonstrate their products and services to businesses, institutions and other attendees.

The range of projects reflected the diversity of the local technology sector. Areas represented included artificial intelligence and business automation, cybersecurity and networks, website and application development, industrial and service robotics, home automation, sound engineering, water management, geospatial analysis and fire prevention.

Other initiatives focused on agricultural and food marketplaces, digital management of sporting events, interior design and circular materials for construction.

The aim was to connect businesses seeking practical solutions with companies developing technologies that could improve their operations or support new services.

Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Business

Artificial intelligence and big data formed a central part of the programme.

Sessions explored how businesses are using these technologies to analyse information, simplify repetitive work and change existing processes. Rather than focusing solely on future possibilities, the discussions highlighted practical applications being developed or used by companies.

AI and automation can support tasks such as processing documents, analysing business data and improving internal workflows. However, the usefulness of each application depends on the specific problem being addressed, the quality of the underlying information and how the technology is integrated into daily operations.

The summit provided an opportunity for local businesses to learn about available solutions and discuss how they might apply them to their own needs.

Sustainability and Technology for Island Challenges

Sustainability was another major theme, with attention given to technological responses to environmental and infrastructure challenges affecting island territories.

The announced programme included solutions related to the water cycle, predictive fire-risk models and the recovery of waste materials.

These areas are particularly relevant to islands, where water resources, land management, environmental protection and the efficient use of materials can create complex challenges.

The presentations aimed to demonstrate how innovation can support practical responses to these issues, although individual projects will need to be assessed according to their performance and results.

Bringing Local Businesses and Technology Providers Together

The summit also included sector discussions and networking opportunities designed to help companies establish contacts, exchange experiences and explore potential partnerships.

The initiative was organised through the Balearic Islands' innovation ecosystem, with the involvement of Fundació Bit, the Chamber of Commerce of Ibiza and Formentera and the island's institutions. The organisers presented the event as a way to strengthen connections between technology providers, businesses, public bodies and other organisations.

Fundació Bit also supports technology entrepreneurship through its Emprenbit programme and CentreBit Ibiza, helping innovative business initiatives develop and connect with the local economy.

The summit forms part of a wider effort to encourage the adoption of locally available technology and create opportunities for collaboration across different sectors.

Diversifying Ibiza's Economy Through Innovation

Tourism remains central to Ibiza's economy, but the island also has companies working in technology, engineering, digital services and sustainability.

The Ibiza Innovation Summit sought to make that wider business activity more visible and demonstrate how locally available expertise can contribute to business development and environmental challenges.

Its first edition brought together projects across multiple technical fields, creating a platform for companies to present their work and for potential customers to explore possible applications.

The longer-term value of the initiative will depend on whether the connections made lead to partnerships, technology adoption and measurable benefits for businesses and the wider community. The event's organisers have identified collaboration and innovation as priorities, while further evidence will be needed to assess its economic impact.
