Greggio on “Let’s Go Down”, Meduza and the Ibiza Moment That Made His Summer
Brazilian DJ and producer Greggio has opened up about the story behind his latest single, “Let’s Go Down”, the musical influences that shape his sound and a memorable Ibiza moment that took him from sending a track to artists he admired to performing it alongside them.
In a new interview with 1883 Magazine, published on 21 October 2026, the London-based artist reflects on a summer spent travelling between Brazil, London, Ibiza and other European destinations. Among its highlights was sharing a musical moment with Meduza after sending the Italian electronic music trio his track.
For Greggio, the experience was a reminder of what can happen when consistent studio work leads to unexpected opportunities on the dancefloor.
From Sending a Track to Playing It Alongside Meduza
The story behind “Let’s Go Down” is central to the interview. Greggio sent the track to Meduza, artists he says he has admired for years, before eventually playing it alongside them in Ibiza.
He described the experience as an extraordinary moment, explaining that sending music to an artist you respect does not guarantee a response or any particular outcome. To then find himself sharing the track with them in Ibiza made the experience especially meaningful.
The encounter also reinforced his motivation to keep developing his production and pursuing new opportunities. Rather than treating the moment as an endpoint, he sees it as encouragement to continue improving and exploring where his music can lead.
The Sound and Story Behind “Let’s Go Down”
Released on 2 October 2026 through Aeterna Records, “Let’s Go Down” is built around a groove-led, late-night club sound.
Greggio describes the atmosphere he wanted to create as a dark room at around 3am, when the dancefloor is fully immersed in the music and distractions fade away. The track reflects his interest in hypnotic rhythms, physical movement and the tension that can develop through a sustained groove.
His approach draws on old-school electronic textures while retaining a contemporary club sensibility. Rather than simply recreating sounds from the past, he aims to bring familiar influences into a production that reflects his own identity.
The single is available in an Extended Mix and Radio Edit, offering different formats for listeners and DJs.
Carrying Brazil Into the European Underground
Although Greggio is based in London, Brazil remains an important influence on his musical identity.
He points to rhythm, groove, warmth and spontaneity as elements of Brazilian musical culture that continue to inform his productions. His experiences in London's diverse underground scene have introduced him to additional sounds and perspectives, helping him combine influences from different environments.
Living away from Brazil has also strengthened his connection to home. Greggio says distance has made him more aware of the music, food, social energy and everyday cultural experiences he grew up with.
He does not see Brazilian and European influences as competing identities. Instead, he regards them as complementary parts of the sound he is developing.
Why London and Ibiza Matter to His Creative Process
Moving between cities has become a significant part of Greggio's life as a DJ and producer.
He describes Brazil as a place with a strong relationship between music, rhythm and social energy, while London has exposed him to a wide range of underground sounds and creative communities. Ibiza brings its own relationship between music, fashion and nightlife.
These environments influence his perspective without dictating how he approaches every production. He prefers to absorb different experiences naturally rather than deliberately change his sound to match a particular city.
Travelling also keeps him open to new situations. Different audiences and venues encourage him to pay attention to the people in front of him rather than rely on a single approach behind the decks.
Finding Inspiration Beyond Music
Greggio's creative influences extend beyond the studio. He cites travelling, architecture, fashion, photography and observing people as ways of absorbing new ideas.
He is particularly interested in how different places shape the way people dress, interact and experience their surroundings. These observations do not always translate directly into a track, but they contribute to his wider perspective.
His approach to production is similarly instinctive. He often trusts his first reaction to a sound or groove rather than analysing every decision too heavily, believing that creativity can benefit from allowing ideas to develop naturally.
That philosophy also informs his view of nostalgia. Older sounds become interesting when they are placed in a new context, rather than copied without adding a personal perspective.
What's Next for Greggio?
Greggio says his plans include new solo releases, collaborations and an upcoming EP on a label that holds particular significance for him. He also mentioned projects involving Max Styler, Vintage Culture and Beltran, alongside further international performances.
Amsterdam and Amsterdam Dance Event are among the upcoming points on his calendar, offering opportunities to connect with artists and industry figures from across electronic music.
As his schedule expands, he says he and his team are focused on building a coherent long-term direction rather than reacting to every new trend. That means prioritising the music while allowing his artistic identity to develop over time.
With “Let’s Go Down” now released and new projects in the pipeline, Greggio is continuing to combine Brazilian influences, London's underground culture and experiences from international dancefloors into a sound of his own.
