Magiclown Brings Four Days of Free Magic, Circus and Comedy to Sant Josep
Published on September 19, 2026 at 05:54 PM
Magic, circus, clowning and comedy are coming to Sant Josep de sa Talaia from September 24 to 27, as Magiclown returns with four days of free performing arts for all ages.
The 2026 programme brings six scheduled performances to different parts of the municipality, including Can Jeroni, the square in Sant Jordi and the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Auditori Caló de s’Oli.
The festival is organised by Sant Josep Town Hall, with coordination and production by Culturactiva S. Coop. Galega. All six performances are free and open to the public.
Four Days of Free Shows
Magiclown opens on Thursday, September 24 at 7pm at Can Jeroni with Con mi magia y tu imaginación, presented by n’Amélie, the stage name of magician Rosana Vidal.
The participatory performance combines magic, humour and visual elements, inviting the audience to become part of the show.
On Friday, September 25 at 7:30pm, the festival moves to the square in Sant Jordi for La magia de un trotamundos by David Navares.
The show follows the adventures of a peculiar traveller and his mysterious suitcase, mixing magic, humour and audience participation.
Two Performances on Saturday
Saturday, September 26 brings two performances to the indoor auditorium at Caló de s’Oli.
At 7:30pm, Máximo Óptimo presents a show combining circus and street comedy, with improvisation and interaction with the audience.
At 9pm, magician Edgar takes the stage with Déjà Vu, a theatrical magic performance that combines illusion with visual poetry and explores the boundary between what appears possible and impossible.
The Festival Closes With Two Final Shows
The final day, Sunday, September 27, also takes place at Caló de s’Oli.
At 7pm, Culturactiva Produccions presents Desconcerto, a theatrical production combining comedy and live music with a playful approach to classical music.
The show stars Félix Rodríguez and Fran Rei and is directed by Marcos Orsi.
At 8pm, the outdoor auditorium hosts Mute by Basque company Orain-Bi.
Using circus as its main language, Mute explores ideas of transformation and the ability of people and structures to adapt to changing circumstances.
Magic Comes to Different Parts of Sant Josep
Rather than keeping the programme in one location, Magiclown spreads its performances across several parts of the municipality.
The opening show takes place at Can Jeroni, Friday's performance moves into the public space of Sant Jordi, and the weekend programme is centred around Caló de s’Oli.
The approach allows different parts of Sant Josep to take part in the festival and brings performing arts outside traditional theatre settings.
Designed for All Ages
The municipality presents Magiclown as a programme aimed at all audiences, with a particular focus on making performing arts accessible to families and younger spectators.
The combination of magic, circus, comedy, theatre, music and audience interaction gives the festival a broad format rather than focusing on one style of performance.
Several of the shows are deliberately participatory, allowing audiences to become part of the action rather than simply watching from their seats.
A Festival With Around a Decade of History
Magiclown has been part of Sant Josep's cultural programme for around a decade, according to the municipality.
The festival had a break before returning in 2023 and has since continued as an annual event.
The 2026 edition once again brings performers from outside Ibiza together with the municipality's public cultural spaces, extending the programme across several days.
From Magic to Circus and Music
The variety of the 2026 programme is one of its defining features.
Thursday's opening focuses on participatory magic, Friday brings a travelling magician into Sant Jordi, Saturday combines circus and theatrical illusion, while Sunday's programme moves into comedy, live music and contemporary circus.
The result is a programme that gives audiences six different performances to choose from over four days.

A Different Kind of September Entertainment
September in Ibiza is often associated with major music events and the final weeks of the club season, but the island's cultural calendar offers a much broader range of activities.
Magiclown brings a different kind of evening entertainment to Sant Josep, using humour, illusion, circus and live performance to create events suitable for families, residents and visitors.
It also offers an opportunity to discover the municipality's cultural venues in a different setting.
Culture Across the Municipality
The festival's use of several locations reflects a wider effort to bring cultural activity beyond a single town centre.
Can Jeroni provides the opening setting, Sant Jordi hosts the Friday show, and Caló de s’Oli becomes the main weekend venue.
By moving between locations, the festival gives different communities in Sant Josep access to the same programme.
A Free Cultural Weekend in Sant Josep
With four days of performances from September 24 to 27, Magiclown adds another family-friendly cultural event to Ibiza's September calendar.
The programme brings together six free performances ranging from close-up, participatory magic and street comedy to circus, theatrical illusion, live music and contemporary circus.
For residents and visitors looking for something different from the island's nightlife scene, Sant Josep will offer four evenings of free entertainment built around imagination, humour and live performance.
