Ibiza Ex-Councillor’s Asset Declaration Lists No Data on Husband’s Company Interests
The published asset declaration of former Ibiza Town Council councillor Ana Ferrer Prohías lists “Sin datos” in the section covering company interests held by a public official’s spouse, despite business records linking her husband, José Luis Cortés Cortés, to several companies.
The issue has come under scrutiny following Cortés’s arrest in a major investigation into alleged money laundering and organised crime. Ferrer resigned from her position as a councillor on 5 October 2026, citing personal and family reasons, according to reports.
The declaration, generated on 22 January 2025 and published through the Balearic Islands’ transparency portal, relates to Ferrer’s time as a councillor at Ibiza Town Hall. She took office on 17 June 2023.
What the Declaration Says
The document includes a section specifically covering companies in which a public official, their spouse or partner, dependent children or other specified family members have interests.
According to the published report, both the field for identifying these companies and the field for additional explanations contain the wording “Sin datos”.
However, business records reviewed by the reporting outlet reportedly show Cortés linked to at least nine companies, primarily in property development, construction and real estate management, as well as businesses in other sectors.
These records include companies established before Ferrer took office and others formed or linked to Cortés in subsequent years.
The discrepancy raises questions about the information recorded in the declaration. It does not, on its own, establish that Ferrer deliberately concealed information or that she committed an offence.
The Companies Linked to José Luis Cortés Cortés
Among the companies identified in the reporting are:
-
Arquitectura Técnica Viva de Intermediación SL, established in 2019, in which Cortés is reported to have been registered as sole shareholder and sole administrator.
-
MGM Mass Media SL, established in 2010 and associated with advertising, communications and consultancy.
-
Cas Mut Unero SL and Ses Torres 3 Unero SL, companies associated with luxury property developments in Ibiza and established in 2022.
-
Ferbo Unero SL, established in 2023 and associated with property acquisition, development, sales and rentals.
-
Unero Espacio SL and World Unero SL, companies connected to property activities and the holding or management of company interests.
-
Rodcor Ibiza SL, where Cortés is reported to have held a joint administrator role.
-
Tri Mares Investment SL, a company established in 2026 and associated with property development and construction.
The reported corporate links include both direct appointments and indirect connections through other companies. Company registrations and business relationships do not, by themselves, establish wrongdoing.
What the Law Requires
Balearic Islands Law 2/2024, which established the regional register for transparency and control of public officials’ assets and activities, states that declarations must include the corporate purpose of companies in which the public official, their spouse or partner and other specified family members have interests.
The law replaced earlier legislation, which also contained a requirement concerning company interests held by a public official’s spouse.
Whether the information in a particular declaration was legally sufficient, whether an omission occurred and whether any breach took place would require assessment of the full documentation and the applicable rules. The published declaration alone does not establish those conclusions.
The Separate Investigation Into Her Husband
Cortés was arrested in September 2026 as part of a wider investigation into an alleged international criminal network accused of drug trafficking and laundering proceeds through property developments and other assets.
He was reported to be in provisional custody by court order. His lawyer subsequently told the reporting outlet that the preliminary allegations against Cortés concerned alleged money laundering and membership of a criminal organisation, and that he was not personally accused of drug trafficking.
Ferrer has not been identified as an accused person in the criminal case, according to reporting on the investigation. Her husband’s arrest does not establish that she was involved in any alleged criminal activity.
Questions Remain About the Declaration
The reporting outlet said it attempted to obtain Ferrer’s response to questions about the declaration, but she ended the telephone conversation after the journalist identified herself and did not provide answers.
The central issue is therefore a discrepancy between the declaration’s “No data” entries and the reported company links associated with Cortés. Further documentation or clarification from the relevant authorities would be needed to establish whether the declaration met all applicable legal requirements.
For now, the available information supports scrutiny of the disclosure and transparency process, but not a definitive conclusion that Ferrer deliberately hid her husband’s companies or broke the law.
