Ibiza JoySail Confirms Seventh Superyacht Regatta for September 2027

October 06, 2026

Ibiza JoySail will return to the island in September 2027 for its seventh edition, bringing another fleet of sailing superyachts to Ibiza and Formentera for several days of racing, social events and on-water competition.

The next edition is scheduled for September 23 to 26, 2027, with Marina Ibiza once again set to serve as the event's base.

The dates were announced shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 edition, which brought 19 sailing superyachts to Ibiza for the sixth running of the regatta.

From Ibiza to Formentera

Ibiza JoySail is built around coastal racing in the waters surrounding Ibiza and Formentera.

Rather than following one fixed course, race organisers can select from different routes depending on the conditions, allowing the fleet to make the most of the wind and sea state during the regatta.

The format combines competitive sailing with a strong social programme ashore, with owners, crews and guests coming together at Marina Ibiza after the day's racing.

19 Superyachts Took Part in 2026

The sixth edition, held in September 2026, featured 19 sailing superyachts.

The fleet included both returning competitors and newcomers, divided into several racing classes. Among the regular participants was Swan 115 MOAT, which has competed in every edition of Ibiza JoySail.

MOAT's tactician Cole Parada highlighted the variety of available courses around Ibiza as one of the regatta's attractions, along with the sailing conditions experienced during the event.

The 2026 regatta concluded with class winners receiving prizes, while additional trophies were awarded to yachts helmed by their owners.

The Palma to Ibiza Record Challenge Returns

One of the distinctive elements of Ibiza JoySail is its Perpetual Trophy, which gives participating yachts the opportunity to challenge the fastest passage between Mallorca and Ibiza.

The challenge covers approximately 48 nautical miles between Punta Cala Figuera in Mallorca and Tagomago off Ibiza.

The organiser's current information describes a 30-day window in which contenders can attempt the crossing, with the aim of establishing a new reference time.

This separate challenge adds another competitive element to the main Ibiza JoySail programme, allowing participating yachts to test themselves outside the coastal races.

Racing and Life Ashore

Ibiza JoySail is designed to combine sailing with an extended hospitality programme.

During the 2026 edition, owners, crews and guests were able to follow the racing from chase boats, while evening events brought the participating teams together at Marina Ibiza.

The event also works with a network of marine and hospitality partners supporting areas including sail repair, logistics, provisioning and on-water access.

Seventh Edition Set for September 2027

The 2027 edition will continue an event that was launched in 2021 and has since developed into an invitation-only superyacht regatta.

With the dates now announced, Ibiza JoySail is set to return from September 23 to 26, 2027, once again placing sailing competition around Ibiza and Formentera at the centre of the event.

Further details about the 2027 fleet, racing programme and participating yachts can be confirmed closer to the event.

For now, the date is set: Ibiza JoySail will return to Ibiza in September 2027 for its seventh edition.
