Marie Davidson and Pearson Sound have joined forces for the first time on record with “Heat”, a slow-burning electronic track that brings together Davidson's distinctive vocal presence with Pearson Sound's club-focused production.

Released on October 2, 2026, “Heat” marks the first collaboration between the Canadian artist and the UK producer, also known as David Kennedy.

The track has been described as an EBM-tinged slow burner for the club, combining a restrained tempo with dark electronic textures and a steadily building sense of tension.

A first collaboration

“Heat” is the first recorded collaboration between Marie Davidson and Pearson Sound.

Davidson has built a reputation for combining electronic music with spoken-word and vocal-led elements, while Pearson Sound, the alias of David Kennedy, is known for his work across UK bass, techno, house and experimental electronic music.

Kennedy is also a co-founder of Hessle Audio, the influential UK electronic music label he runs alongside Ben UFO and Pangaea.

The new track brings those different musical backgrounds together in a production designed for the club.

The digital release contains two versions of the track:

• “Heat”

• “Heat (Extended Mix)”

The original version runs for 3 minutes and 20 seconds, while the extended mix runs for just over five minutes.

Pearson Sound's official release credits list Marie Davidson and David Kennedy as the writers, with Pearson Sound handling production and mixing.

Autumns remix coming later this month

The release will also feature a remix from Autumns, the post-punk project of producer and musician Michael Greene.

The Autumns version is set to arrive on October 30 and takes the track in a more percussion-heavy direction, increasing its intensity while retaining the darker character of the original.

The complete release will be available on digital and 12-inch vinyl, with the physical edition scheduled for October 30.

Marie Davidson follows City of Clowns

“Heat” follows Davidson's sixth studio album, City of Clowns, released in 2025.

The album was created in collaboration with Soulwax and Pierre Guerineau and followed her 2020 record Renegade Breakdown.

Since the release of City of Clowns, Davidson has continued touring across North America and Europe, appearing at festivals and venues including Houghton and Noise Pop.

Pearson Sound continues a long-running electronic career

For Pearson Sound, “Heat” arrives as his latest release following his 2025 single “Zoomies” and 2024's Which Way Is Up EP.

Kennedy has been releasing music as Pearson Sound for more than a decade and remains an important figure in the UK electronic scene through both his own productions and Hessle Audio.

The collaboration with Davidson adds another dimension to his catalogue, bringing together his club-oriented production style with Davidson's distinctive approach to vocals and electronic songwriting.

“Heat” is now available to stream and download, with the full physical release and Autumns remix scheduled for October 30.
