Ibiza Chamber of Commerce Brings National Tax Experts Together for Property Tax Forum

10 de October de 2026

The Ibiza and Formentera Chamber of Commerce brought together professionals from the tax, notarial, consultancy and property sectors on Thursday, 8 October 2026, for a specialist forum examining the tax rules surrounding real estate transactions.

Held at the Ibiza Exhibition Centre (FECOEV), the event attracted around 70 professionals, according to the published report. It was organised jointly by the Chamber of Commerce and the Instituto Superior de Análisis Fiscal (ISAF), with institutional support from the Balearic Islands Government and the Ibiza Island Council.

The forum focused on the tax implications of buying and selling property, bringing together specialists from Spain’s tax administration and the private sector to discuss legislation, practical applications and complex transactions.

Four Experts Examine Property Taxation

The programme featured four presentations covering key areas of taxation relevant to real estate transactions.

Esther Pérez Cantero, deputy director-general for Consumption Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, addressed VAT on property sales, including first and subsequent transfers.

Ana de la Herrán Piñar, president of the National Association of State Tax Inspectors, examined personal income tax (IRPF), with particular attention to capital gains and the values used to calculate acquisition and disposal.

Miguel Ramiro Arcas, a tax inspector and head of a wealth-investigation team at the Spanish Tax Agency’s Madrid Special Delegation, discussed complex property transactions, financing and local taxation.

Vicente Arbona Más, a tax adviser and partner at Arbona y Herráez Consultores Tributarios, delivered the session on corporate tax, focusing on property acquisitions and the tax implications of changes in a company’s asset structure.

The presentations were designed to provide practical guidance for professionals dealing with property transactions and their associated tax obligations.

A Focus on Legal Certainty in the Property Sector

The forum comes amid sustained interest in the Balearic property market, where transactions can involve several different taxes and legal considerations depending on the property, the parties involved and the structure of the sale.

By bringing together experts from public administration and private practice, the organisers aimed to help participants understand the relevant tax framework and apply it to their professional work.

The topics included VAT, personal income tax, local taxation and corporate tax, reflecting the different fiscal considerations that can arise when property changes hands.

Chamber Reinforces Specialist Business Training

The Chamber of Commerce said the initiative forms part of its wider commitment to professional training and support for businesses in Ibiza and Formentera.

Access to specialist tax knowledge can help companies and advisers navigate complex rules, improve compliance and make better-informed decisions when handling property transactions.

The event also highlighted the role of cooperation between professional institutions and public bodies in bringing specialised training to the islands.

With the support of the Balearic Islands Government and the Ibiza Island Council, the forum offered local professionals an opportunity to engage directly with national experts on issues affecting the property market and the wider business community.
