Ibiza and Formentera Students Can Apply for Six Medicine and Health Sciences Scholarships Worth €38,000

October 30, 2026

The Fundación Julián Vilás Ferrer has announced a new round of scholarships for students of Medicine and Health Sciences with links to Ibiza and Formentera. The foundation will distribute six grants worth a combined €38,000 for the 2026–2027 academic year, supporting university students and young people beginning their higher education.

Applications will be accepted from 1 to 30 November 2026. The initiative aims to recognise academic achievement and help young people from the Pitiusas meet the costs associated with their education and professional training.

Six scholarships across three categories

The €38,000 funding package is divided into three categories:

  • Medicine: Two scholarships of €8,000 each for undergraduate or postgraduate students.

  • Health Sciences: Two scholarships of €8,000 each for undergraduate or postgraduate students.

  • New university students: Two scholarships of €3,000 each for students who completed Bachillerato in 2026 and are now in their first year of Medicine or Health Sciences.

The grants are intended to contribute towards tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, travel and other academic costs covered by the scholarship conditions.

The foundation will assess candidates primarily on their academic records from the 2025–2026 academic year, alongside their talent and other merits.

  • Having completed their Bachillerato studies in Ibiza or Formentera.

Applicants must also be enrolled in face-to-face Medicine or Health Sciences programmes at recognised universities or educational centres and meet the academic and documentation requirements established by the foundation.

A jury made up of healthcare professionals and members of the foundation will assess the applications, with academic performance forming the main selection criterion.

Supporting young talent in the Pitiusas since 2015

The Fundación Julián Vilás Ferrer has been awarding these scholarships since 2015. The initiative honours the legacy of Dr Julián Vilás Ferrer, an Ibiza-born surgeon whose professional life was dedicated to medicine and patient care.

Through the programme, the foundation seeks to help young people from Ibiza and Formentera access higher education and develop careers in healthcare, while recognising academic excellence and supporting the next generation of medical and health professionals.
