Sant Francesc Xavier in Formentera Competes for Ferrero Rocher’s 2026 Christmas Lights

October 29, 2026

Sant Francesc Xavier, the main town of Formentera, is competing against the Mallorcan municipality of Muro for the chance to receive a special Christmas lighting display as part of Ferrero Rocher’s national competition, Juntos Brillamos Más.

The public vote opened on 26 October 2026 and runs until 23:59 on Sunday, 8 November. The winning town from the Balearic Islands will progress to the next stage, bringing Formentera the opportunity to showcase its heritage and festive traditions to a national audience.

Sant Francesc Xavier Faces Muro in the First Round

The Balearic Islands are represented in this year's competition by Sant Francesc Xavier in Formentera and Muro in Mallorca.

Sant Francesc Xavier is known for its historic fortified church, dating from the 18th century, which remains one of the town's most recognisable landmarks. The candidature offers an opportunity to highlight the island's cultural identity and the character of its main settlement.

Muro, meanwhile, will seek support by showcasing its historic centre, traditional Sant Antoni celebrations and proximity to the s’Albufera Natural Park in Mallorca.

The public vote will determine which of the two municipalities progresses to the next stage of the competition.

How the Christmas Lighting Competition Works

Organised by Ferrero Rocher, Juntos Brillamos Más is holding its 13th edition in 2026. This year's competition includes 34 towns across Spain, with two candidates representing each autonomous community in the opening round.

The process begins with public voting to select one representative from each community. The 17 successful towns will then move into the national stages, with further eliminations determining the finalists.

According to the published competition schedule, the next stages are planned as follows:

  • 8 November 2026: First-round voting closes at 23:59.

  • 9 November 2026: The 17 towns progressing from the regional matchups are due to be announced.

  • 30 November 2026: Five towns are scheduled to remain in the competition.

  • 7 December 2026: The two finalists are due to be announced.

  • 14 December 2026: Ferrero Rocher is scheduled to reveal the winning town.

The dates reflect the announced timetable and may be subject to updates from the organiser.

What the Winning Town Receives

The winning municipality will receive a special Christmas lighting installation provided by Ferrero Rocher. The lights will remain the town's property and can be used again in future festive seasons.

For the selected town, the prize offers more than a seasonal decoration. It also provides national visibility, potentially attracting visitors interested in experiencing its Christmas celebrations.

Formentera's participation therefore gives Sant Francesc Xavier an opportunity to promote its historic centre, local identity and winter tourism beyond the island's traditional summer season.

How to Vote for Sant Francesc Xavier

Residents, visitors and supporters can vote for Sant Francesc Xavier through Ferrero Rocher's official Juntos Brillamos Más competition website.

The first-round vote remains open until 23:59 on Sunday, 8 November 2026. Sant Francesc Xavier must receive more votes than Muro to progress to the next stage.

The competition gives supporters of Formentera an opportunity to help the town advance and potentially bring a special Christmas lighting display to the island.
