Ibiza Town is preparing for another edition of the Cursa Es Baluards on Saturday, 7 November 2026, bringing runners through the historic streets, defensive walls and bastions of Dalt Vila. The sporting event combines local athletics, family participation and fundraising for a charitable cause, with a free children's race also included in the programme.
Organised by Club Atletisme Pitiús and Ibiza Town Council, the event offers participants an opportunity to experience the city's historic centre from a different perspective, with the main race covering approximately 5.5 kilometres.
Although this is the third year in which the event has been organised, the 2026 competition is officially considered the second edition to take place, following the cancellation of the 2025 race because of adverse weather conditions.
A 5.5 km Route Through Ibiza's Historic Walls
The main Cursa Es Baluards will start at 16:30 from Passeig de Vara de Rey, which will also serve as the finish line.
Participants will complete two laps of an approximately 5.5 km urban circuit passing through some of the most recognisable locations in Dalt Vila.
The route includes:
The course combines physical activity with the opportunity to experience Ibiza's UNESCO-recognised historic heritage, with its stone walls, narrow streets and impressive views over the city.
The main competition is open to runners born in 2010 or earlier, including both federated and non-federated participants.
Free Mini Cursa for Children and Inclusive Participation
The event also features the Mini Cursa Es Baluards, designed to encourage younger participants to enjoy sport in a family-friendly environment.
The children's programme includes two different distances:
16:00: Sub10, Sub12 and Special Category
A circuit of approximately 600 metres along Passeig de Vara de Rey.
16:15: Sub14 and Sub16
A circuit of approximately 1,200 metres, with the start and finish at Vara de Rey.
The Mini Cursa is free to enter and includes a special category for athletes from ADDIF, reinforcing the inclusive nature of the event.
A Sporting Event Supporting AEMIF
Beyond its sporting and cultural objectives, Cursa Es Baluards also has a charitable purpose.
Registration proceeds from the main race will be donated to AEMIF, an association supporting people with physical disabilities in Ibiza and Formentera.
The initiative brings together local sporting organisations, public institutions and the community, using a popular sporting event to support an organisation working with people who need assistance and specialised services.
