Santa Eulària des Riu is organising a theatre initiative to raise awareness of unwanted loneliness among teenagers, exploring how social exclusion, peer pressure and difficulties expressing emotions can affect young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing.
The performance, titled Teatro contra la soledad no deseada, will take place on Friday, 13 November 2026, at Teatro España. Organised by Santa Eulària Town Council, the initiative will combine three theatrical monologues with interactive activities designed to encourage adolescents to reflect on their own experiences and relationships.
Three Monologues Exploring the Reality of Teenage Loneliness
The theatrical production will address situations that many teenagers may encounter during adolescence, including fear of rejection, pressure to fit into social groups, exclusion, the influence of social media and difficulties communicating emotions.
Through three monologues, the independent theatre company Anna Xantal will present stories reflecting the experiences of young people who may feel isolated or misunderstood, even when surrounded by other people.
The initiative aims to help teenagers recognise that loneliness is not always visible and that someone can experience emotional isolation without necessarily being physically alone.
Interactive Activities Encourage Participation and Reflection
Following the theatrical performances, attendees will be invited to participate in practical activities, including role-playing exercises and improvisation.
These activities will give young people an opportunity to explore the situations presented during the monologues, consider different perspectives and connect the themes with their own experiences.
The programme seeks to promote empathy, reinforce self-esteem and encourage healthier social relationships. It will also highlight the importance of recognising emotional distress and seeking support when necessary.
Part of Santa Eulària's Municipal Prevention Plan
The initiative forms part of the Municipal Plan on Drugs and Other Behavioural Addictions, approved by Santa Eulària Town Council on 24 December 2025.
The plan establishes four strategic lines of action, seven general objectives and twelve specific objectives aimed at promoting emotional wellbeing among young people and strengthening protective factors against risky behaviours.
By incorporating theatre and participatory exercises into its prevention activities, the municipality is using creative expression as a way to address issues that can sometimes be difficult for adolescents to discuss openly.
