Ibiza has once again found itself at the centre of international celebrity attention, with Spanish actress Ester Expósito and Real Madrid and France football star Kylian Mbappé becoming one of the most closely watched celebrity couples of 2026.

The pair have not publicly confirmed the exact nature of their relationship, but they have been photographed together on several occasions, including during a private Ibiza getaway aboard a luxury yacht.

The images from the island, first taken in late May and published in June, intensified speculation that the actress and footballer were romantically involved. Since then, further appearances together have continued to fuel interest in their relationship.

Ibiza Became a Key Chapter in the Romance

Expósito and Mbappé were photographed together in Ibiza shortly before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The pair were seen enjoying time aboard a luxury yacht, with photographs showing them together during the Mediterranean getaway.

The images quickly attracted international attention because the two had already been linked for several months, but had remained notably private about their personal lives.

The Ibiza trip provided some of the clearest public evidence of their closeness at that point, with photographs showing them spending time together away from the attention of the football and entertainment worlds.

From Rumours to Increasingly Public Appearances

Speculation about Expósito and Mbappé began earlier in 2026.

They were reportedly seen together in Madrid in February, followed by photographs and sightings around Paris during Fashion Week and subsequent appearances in Madrid.

The attention increased during the following months as the pair were photographed together in different locations.

Their Ibiza getaway became one of the defining moments of the story, followed by further photographs from Sardinia and later public appearances in Paris.

Neither Has Officially Confirmed the Relationship

Despite the volume of photographs and reports, neither Expósito nor Mbappé has publicly issued a formal confirmation of their relationship.

That distinction remains important.

The pair have been seen together repeatedly and photographed in affectionate settings, but they have maintained a degree of privacy around their personal lives.

Expósito has also spoken about the difficulties of having her private life scrutinised and, in July, criticised what she described as false and defamatory information circulating online about her personal life.

She warned that she was prepared to take legal action against false claims, making accuracy particularly important when reporting on the couple.

Ibiza Images Became a Turning Point

The photographs from Ibiza were among the first images to show the pair together in a distinctly private holiday setting.

Taken aboard a yacht, the pictures showed Expósito and Mbappé enjoying the Mediterranean away from their professional commitments.

The images were released publicly in June, shortly before Mbappé began his World Cup campaign with France.

International entertainment outlets subsequently described the trip as a romantic getaway, although the couple themselves did not publicly label it as such.

More Ibiza Images Emerged Later in the Summer

The Ibiza story did not end with the initial photographs.

In August, additional images from the same Ibiza getaway were published, showing the pair enjoying time together around the water and on a luxury catamaran.

The later photographs renewed interest in their earlier trip and offered additional glimpses of the couple away from the footballer's demanding professional schedule.

By then, the relationship was attracting significantly more attention internationally than it had several months earlier.

The World Cup Changed the Spotlight

The relationship attracted a new level of global attention during the 2026 World Cup.

Expósito was seen supporting Mbappé during France's campaign, further connecting the two publicly.

Following the tournament, the pair were also seen together in Miami before returning to Europe.

Their appearances became increasingly difficult to separate from the wider public interest surrounding Mbappé's performances for France.

Mbappé and Expósito Later Seen Together in Paris

After the World Cup, the pair returned to Paris, where they were photographed together at dinner.

Fashion coverage of one of their Paris appearances further fuelled attention around their relationship, particularly because the couple continued to appear together despite previously keeping their private lives relatively discreet.

The contrast between the couple's low-key approach to confirming their relationship and the growing number of public photographs has become a defining feature of their story.

Ester Expósito's Career Continues to Grow

The relationship has also unfolded alongside a busy period in Expósito's professional career.

The Madrid-born actress became internationally known for her role as Carla Rosón in Netflix's Élite, which turned her into one of Spain's most recognisable young actors.

In 2026, she has continued expanding her film and television career, including the release of Drawn Together, the English-language title associated with the Spanish production Enfrentados: Marfil.

The romantic thriller, based on the novels by Mercedes Ron, stars Expósito as Marfil Cortés alongside Hugo Diego García.

Mbappé's Global Profile Is Equally Huge

Mbappé's fame, meanwhile, extends far beyond Real Madrid.

The French forward is one of the world's most recognisable footballers and entered the 2026 World Cup as one of the central figures in France's squad.

His professional status naturally means that any public appearance involving him attracts considerable global attention.

That has contributed to the enormous interest surrounding his connection with Expósito, particularly when their private holidays have taken place in highly recognisable destinations such as Ibiza and Sardinia.

Ibiza Remains a Favourite Celebrity Escape

The couple's Ibiza trip is another example of the island's continuing role in international celebrity culture.

Ibiza regularly attracts footballers, actors, musicians, models and other high-profile figures during the Mediterranean summer.

Private yachts and villas offer a degree of privacy while allowing visitors to enjoy the island's coastline, restaurants and nightlife away from more heavily photographed public spaces.

For celebrities seeking both luxury and discretion, Ibiza remains one of Europe's most recognisable summer destinations.

The Island's Yacht Culture Takes Centre Stage

The fact that Expósito and Mbappé's Ibiza photographs were taken aboard a yacht is also significant.

Private boat trips are an established part of the island's luxury tourism market, allowing visitors to explore the coastline and surrounding waters while remaining relatively removed from the busiest beaches.

The couple's images consequently captured a very recognisable version of luxury Ibiza: a private yacht, Mediterranean waters and a high-profile international guest list.

A Relationship Kept Relatively Private

Despite the intense media attention, Expósito and Mbappé have avoided turning their relationship into a formal public announcement.

Their approach has instead been characterised by occasional appearances, photographs and social-media moments.

That privacy has allowed speculation to grow, but it has also made reliable reporting particularly important.

Expósito's July statement about false stories concerning her private life demonstrated how quickly online speculation can cross into misinformation.

From Ibiza to Sardinia and Back to Paris

The couple's 2026 summer has included several destinations.

After Ibiza, they were photographed in Sardinia, before later appearances together in Paris.

The repeated nature of those sightings has made the relationship appear increasingly established, even though neither person has formally confirmed it.

By late July, Vogue described them as a couple while still noting that neither had officially confirmed the relationship.

Why the Ibiza Story Has Attracted So Much Attention

The interest is partly about the two individuals involved.

Expósito represents one of Spain's most recognisable young entertainment stars, while Mbappé is one of the biggest names in global football.

Their connection also brings together two major entertainment markets, Spanish film and international football.

Adding Ibiza to the story gives it another layer, because the island itself has long been associated with celebrity holidays, luxury yachts and high-profile summer romances.

A Summer Romance With an Ibiza Chapter

The Ibiza getaway has become an important part of the timeline surrounding Expósito and Mbappé.

Their appearances on the island in late May were followed by photographs being published in June, just before Mbappé's World Cup campaign.

Later images from Ibiza resurfaced in August, while the pair went on to appear together in Sardinia, Miami and Paris.

The sequence has turned what began as rumours into one of the year's most closely followed celebrity relationships.

Privacy Remains Central to the Story

For all the public interest, neither Expósito nor Mbappé has chosen to provide a detailed account of their relationship.

That means reports should continue to distinguish between what has been photographed, what has been publicly said and what remains speculation.

The strongest evidence comes from their repeated appearances together, including the Ibiza yacht photographs.

Beyond that, assumptions about their private life remain exactly that: assumptions.

Ibiza's Role in the Celebrity Story

For Ibiza, the attention is another reminder of the island's extraordinary ability to become part of international celebrity stories.

A few photographs from a yacht in the Mediterranean can quickly travel across entertainment media around the world.

The island provides the setting, but the interest comes from the people involved.

In the case of Expósito and Mbappé, Ibiza became the backdrop to one of the earliest and most widely circulated public glimpses of their relationship.

What We Know About Ester Expósito and Kylian Mbappé

The timeline is now relatively clear.

The pair were linked from early 2026 and subsequently photographed together in Madrid and Paris.

They were then photographed enjoying a private yacht trip in Ibiza in late May, with the images becoming public in June. Later in the summer, they were seen together in Sardinia, Miami and Paris.

Neither has formally announced their relationship, although the number of public appearances has continued to fuel widespread reports that they are a couple.

Ibiza Once Again in the Spotlight

The Expósito and Mbappé story has given Ibiza another starring role in the international celebrity summer of 2026.

The island was the setting for one of the first widely circulated glimpses of the pair together, with their yacht getaway becoming a defining moment in the timeline of their relationship.

Since then, their appearances around Europe and during the World Cup have kept the story in the headlines.

For now, the couple continue to keep the details of their private life largely to themselves.

But the Ibiza photographs remain an important chapter in a romance that has gone from early rumours to one of the most closely watched celebrity relationships of the year.
