Things to Do in Ibiza & Formentera in October 2026: Events, Festivals, Food, Wellness, Sport & More
September 29, 2026
October brings a different side of Ibiza and Formentera to life.
The pace of the islands begins to slow after the height of summer, but the calendar remains surprisingly full. Major club events continue into the first half of the month, while cultural festivals, traditional celebrations, live music, food events, art exhibitions, wellness experiences, cycling, running and outdoor adventures take centre stage.
It is also a particularly good time to explore beyond the beach. The temperatures are generally more comfortable for walking and cycling, the countryside becomes quieter, and many of the islands' cultural traditions take place in a more relaxed autumn setting.
From a full coastal adventure around Ibiza to jazz in Ibiza Town, the Fira de la Sal in Sant Jordi, cycling across the island and Formentera's autumn gastronomic programme, here are some of the things to put on your October 2026 calendar.

Explore Ibiza on Foot: Around the Island Adventure
October begins with one of the island's more ambitious outdoor experiences.
The Around the Island Adventure takes place from October 1 to 11, with participants walking around the coastline of Ibiza over 11 days.
The organised route covers approximately 260 kilometres, averaging around 25 kilometres per day, with roughly six to eight hours of walking each day.
The experience begins in Ibiza Town before following the coastline through some of the island's most scenic landscapes.
It is designed as a serious multi-day walking adventure rather than a casual sightseeing excursion, making it particularly suited to travellers who want to experience Ibiza on foot and spend extended time outdoors.
Sonorama Ribera Goes to Ibiza
Music, gastronomy and wine come together in Cala de Bou on October 2 and 3 for Sonorama Ribera Goes to Ibiza.
The 2026 edition features live performances from artists including Marlena, Peter Colours, Tu Otra Bonita, Anabel Lee, Bouza vs Dylan and Comandante Twin, alongside additional activities.
The festival begins from midday, with the October 2 daytime activities free of charge according to the official programme.
Wine is also part of the experience, with Ribera del Duero returning to the festival with its own wine bar and a selection of wines.
Oktoberfest by the Sea
For something a little different, Tanit Beach Ibiza is hosting its own Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 3.
The event starts from 13:00 and combines German-inspired food and beer with music, DJs, entertainment and traditional Oktoberfest-style costumes.
The event is free to attend, although tables can be reserved.
Contemporary Art With a Purpose
On October 4, Art Initiatives presents its 2026 benefit auction at Juntos House in Sant Mateu.
The event, titled "Negotiating Belonging", combines a seated lunch, contemporary art and a benefit auction.
The programme begins with a reception from 12:00, followed by lunch and the afternoon auction. Proceeds support Anno's One Fine Day and a Balearic cause selected for the 2026 edition.
It offers a more intimate way to experience Ibiza's contemporary art community while supporting charitable projects.
Swim Around Es Vedrà
The Posidonia Swimming Race returns on Sunday, October 4, starting from Cala d'Hort.
There are two distances: a 10-kilometre course around Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell, and a shorter 5-kilometre route around Es Vedranell and back.
The event begins from 10:00. Minimum ages apply to both distances, and places are limited, so advance registration is required.
Cycle Around Ibiza
Cycling becomes one of the major themes of October with the Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza Campagnolo from October 9 to 12.
The event includes two road stages followed by an individual time trial.
The first stage on October 10 runs from Ibiza to Sant Antoni, covering approximately 60 kilometres. The second stage on October 11 covers around 100 kilometres between Sant Josep and Sant Antoni, while October 12 features a 4.4-kilometre individual time trial in Sant Antoni.
The event is aimed at cycling enthusiasts rather than a conventional competitive road race, making it another opportunity to see the island from a very different perspective.
Formentera Sunset Run
On October 10, runners can head across to Formentera for the 15K Formentera Sunset Run.
The main race starts at 18:00 and covers 15 kilometres, with a separate 5-kilometre race for those looking for a shorter distance.
The event is designed around the island's late-afternoon scenery, combining a sporting challenge with a distinctly Formentera setting.
Jazz Point Ibiza
Jazz takes over Ibiza Town from October 15 to 18 for the seventh edition of Jazz Point Ibiza.
The 2026 festival moves to The Standard, Ibiza, where seven concerts are scheduled across four days.
The programme includes international musicians alongside artists from Spain and the wider Balearic music scene, with afternoon and evening performances running throughout the festival.
Tickets are available for individual concerts, making it possible to attend selected performances rather than committing to the entire programme.
Ibiza Wellness Weekend
From October 16 to 18, Ibiza Wellness Weekend brings together movement, wellbeing, food, nature and cultural experiences across several locations on the island.
The programme includes masterclasses, outdoor activities, locally sourced food, music and other experiences focused on health and connection.
Participating locations include areas around Sant Joan de Labritja, Santa Eulària, Ca Na Xica and Juntos Farm.
Fira de la Sal
One of October's most distinctive cultural events is the Fira de la Sal, taking place from October 16 to 18 around Sant Jordi de ses Salines and the Salinas Natural Park.
The festival celebrates Ibiza's long relationship with salt production.
The programme includes demonstrations of traditional salt harvesting, an artisan market, cooking demonstrations, traditional dance and activities connected with the heritage of the salt pans.
The event offers an opportunity to discover an important part of Ibiza's history away from the island's better-known summer attractions.
Formentera's Autumn Season
Formentera has its own extensive programme throughout October.
The island's official "Formentera in Autumn" campaign runs from September 27 through October 31, promoting accommodation, transport, activities, gastronomy, sport and cultural experiences during the quieter season.
October's programme includes music, exhibitions, sporting events, astronomy, traditional celebrations and food.
Formentera highlights include:
-
October 2-4: SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia festival
-

Formentera Gastronomic Weeks
Food lovers have another reason to visit from October 12 to 25.
Twenty-five restaurants are taking part in the 2026 Formentera Gastronomic Weeks, with each participating restaurant offering a special menu priced at €28 per person, excluding drinks.
The programme is designed around local island produce and provides an opportunity to explore different restaurants and styles of Formentera cuisine during the quieter autumn period.
Soul Food Fest
Back in Ibiza, the Soul Food Fest returns to the outdoor setting of Auditori Caló de s'Oli on October 12.
The festival brings together Southern US-inspired food with blues, rock and roots music, creating one of the island's more distinctive autumn food and music events.
The event traditionally combines live performances with popular food in a seaside setting.
Pujada a La Mola
Formentera's sporting calendar continues on October 12 with the XXVIII Pujada a La Mola.
The mountain race starts in Es Caló de Sant Agustí at 10:30 and covers approximately 8.6 kilometres, climbing towards La Mola.
There are also shorter categories for younger participants, making the event broader than the main adult race.
Art, Exhibitions and Creative Events
October is also a good month to explore Ibiza's galleries, cultural spaces and temporary exhibitions.
The island's official tourism calendar continues to feature cultural events throughout the month, alongside exhibitions, music and heritage activities.
Formentera's autumn programme adds further exhibitions, including the Tardor d'Art exhibition from October 5 to 11 and a Renata Kverh exhibition from October 20 to 29.
Sant Rafel Celebrates Its Patron Saint
October 24 is the main day of the patron saint festivities in Sant Rafel de sa Creu.
The village's celebrations combine local traditions, culture and community events.
The wider programme can include religious ceremonies, traditional dance, food, artisan activities and entertainment, making it an interesting date for visitors who want to experience a more traditional side of Ibiza.
Ibiza Trail Marathon Festival
Trail runners head to Sant Antoni on October 24 for the Ibiza Trail Marathon Festival.
The 2026 edition is the 17th edition of the Ibiza Trail Marathon and combines the main sporting event with additional activities, food and entertainment.
The event features several distances designed for different levels of trail-running experience and takes competitors through Ibiza's countryside and more rugged landscapes.
October at the Wineries
October is also an excellent month for exploring Ibiza's wine culture.
Can Rich continues to offer guided tours and wine tastings during the autumn season, with visits available during the week.
The experience combines a look around the vineyard with wine tasting and local products, offering a slower alternative to the island's nightlife scene.
For visitors interested in Ibiza's agricultural traditions, October is a particularly pleasant time to explore the countryside and learn more about local production.
Outdoor Adventures Beyond the Beach
The end of summer does not mean the end of outdoor activities.
October's milder conditions make it particularly suitable for:
-
Coastal walks and hiking
-
Cycling
-
Kayaking
-
Paddle boarding
-
Boat trips
-
Sunset excursions
-
Horse riding
-
Wine tours
-
Guided countryside walks
-
Snorkelling and watersports when conditions allow
Ibiza's official tourism calendar continues to promote sport and outdoor experiences throughout the autumn, reinforcing that the island's activity calendar extends well beyond the traditional summer season.
Late-Season Nightlife
October is also far from quiet after dark.
The biggest summer residencies begin to reach their closing dates, but major clubs and venues continue to programme events into October.
Among the confirmed dates are David Guetta's Galactic Circus at [UNVRS] on October 2, Calvin Harris at Ushuaïa Ibiza and CamelPhat at Hï Ibiza on the same night. Further closing parties continue throughout the first half of the month.
The official October calendars also show continued programming at venues including [UNVRS], Pacha, Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa, 528 Ibiza, Chinois, O Beach and other late-season venues.
For clubbers, this makes the first half of October particularly interesting, as the island moves from regular summer programming into closing-season events.
Halloween in Ibiza
October finishes with Halloween on October 31.
Individual Halloween parties and programmes are still being announced, so it is too early to present a definitive island-wide Halloween schedule.
As the date approaches, Ibiza's clubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues are expected to publish their individual events.
October Is Ibiza Beyond Summer
October offers a different way to experience Ibiza.
The island's nightlife remains active, but it is no longer the only reason to visit. Cultural festivals, traditional celebrations, food events, wine tasting, wellness programmes, art, cycling, running and outdoor adventures create a much broader autumn calendar.
Formentera follows a similar rhythm, with its official autumn campaign running through the end of October and a programme that brings together gastronomy, sport, culture, music and traditional island life.
For travellers looking for a quieter side of the Pitiusas, October can be an ideal time to slow down, explore the countryside, discover local traditions and enjoy the islands at a different pace.
