Ibiza Airport Set for a Major End-of-August Summer Rush With 1,664 Flights

Pubblicato il 29 August 2026 alle 04:22

Ibiza Airport is preparing for a particularly busy end to August, with 1,664 scheduled aircraft movements between Friday, August 28 and Monday, August 31, as the island enters one of the busiest travel periods of the summer.

The figure includes both arrivals and departures, and represents a 2.3% decrease compared with the same four-day period in 2025, when 1,703 movements were recorded.

Saturday Expected to Be the Busiest Day

Saturday, August 29 is expected to be the busiest day at Ibiza Airport, with 435 scheduled movements.

Sunday follows with 427, while Friday is expected to see 424 aircraft movements. On Monday, 378 movements are scheduled.

The figures reflect the major movement of travellers taking place as August comes to an end, with visitors leaving the island while new arrivals continue to come in for the final days of the summer season.

6,443 Flights Across the Balearic Islands

Ibiza is part of a much wider travel operation across the Balearic Islands.

Between August 28 and 31, 6,443 aircraft movements are scheduled across Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca, 25 fewer than during the equivalent period last year — a year-on-year decrease of around 0.38%.

Mallorca accounts for the largest share, with 4,053 scheduled take-offs and landings, exactly the same number as during the corresponding period in 2025.

Menorca has 726 scheduled movements, representing a 1.9% increase compared with last year.

Across the three islands, Saturday is expected to be the busiest day, with 1,708 scheduled aircraft movements.

The Great End-of-August Turnover

For Ibiza, the final weekend of August traditionally marks one of the biggest moments of the summer travel calendar.

Thousands of holidaymakers are heading home after spending August on the island, while others are arriving for the final stretch of the season.

Despite the slight year-on-year decline in scheduled movements, the numbers underline just how busy Ibiza's airport remains at the height of the summer travel period.

The airport at Es Codolar will therefore be handling a continuous flow of arrivals and departures as the island moves from August into September.

Ibiza's Summer Season Continues

The end-of-August travel rush does not mean the end of Ibiza's summer.

September remains an important month for tourism, with warm weather, major music events, beach days and nightlife continuing across the island.

For travellers flying out over the weekend, the high volume of scheduled movements is also a reminder that Ibiza Airport will be particularly busy, making it sensible to allow plenty of time for check-in, security and boarding.

The 1,664 scheduled movements are a forecast rather than a record of flights actually operated, so the final number may differ depending on cancellations, changes and other operational factors.
