Sentinella Wins Ingenion 2026 Entrepreneur Award in Ibiza for Technology Designed to Prevent Forest Fires

07 November 2026

Sentinella, a technology project designed to identify potential forest-fire risks and predict how fires could spread, has won first place in the 2026 Ingenion Entrepreneur Award competition in Ibiza.

The project, created by Clara Isabel Cano Núñez, was named the winner during the 12th edition of the Ingenion Entrepreneurs Forum, held on Friday, 6 November, at the Centre Cultural de Jesús in Santa Eulària.

The second prize went to Descobreix, experimenta i aprèn: viatja per la història de les Pitiüses, by Adriana Serra Meléndez. Third place was awarded to Kubari, a protein snack-bar business developed by Daniela Ibarra Loik and Jordi Grau Port.

The final ranking was determined through a combination of social media votes, the jury's assessment and votes from members of the audience attending the presentations.

Sentinella takes first place with forest-fire prediction technology

Sentinella received the top award for a system designed to help identify where a forest fire could begin and assess how it might spread.

Its founder, Clara Isabel Cano Núñez, described the project as a form of climate intelligence. The platform uses computing and machine learning to assess the risk of a fire starting in a particular location and incorporates a propagation model to forecast how the fire could develop once ignited.

The technology is primarily intended for public administrations, helping them make more efficient use of the resources available for wildfire prevention. According to Cano, these resources are limited, making it important to identify areas where preventive action could have the greatest impact.

The system may also be useful to private companies that want to assess the risk of forest fires affecting their properties and other assets.

Sentinella began development in September 2025 and was established as a company in June 2026.

The first prize includes €4,000 in shopping vouchers, 18 months of business advice from Pimeef and a €100 gift card from La Sirena-Art.

Descobreix, experimenta i aprèn takes second place

The second-place award went to Adriana Serra Meléndez for Descobreix, experimenta i aprèn: viatja per la història de les Pitiüses.

The project focuses on the history of Ibiza and Formentera, with its title highlighting an approach based on discovering, experiencing and learning about the heritage of the Pitiüses.

The second prize consists of €1,500 in shopping vouchers, 12 months of business advice from Pimeef and a €100 gift card.

Kubari takes third place with natural protein snack bars

Third place was awarded to Kubari, a project created by Daniela Ibarra Loik and Jordi Grau Port.

The business produces high-protein snack bars made with 100% natural ingredients, without gluten or sweeteners.

The founders explained that the products are intended for people with limited time who want a convenient snack, but are not designed to replace a proper meal. The bars have a reported shelf life of one year because they do not contain coatings.

Kubari began in August 2025 and had been in its sales and product-validation phase for four months at the time of the competition.

Its products were already being sold through its website, pharmacies and health-food shops across Ibiza. The founders are also working towards expanding distribution to other parts of the Balearic Islands and mainland Spain.

The third prize includes €600 in shopping vouchers, six months of business advice from Pimeef and a €100 gift card.

Six projects reached the final

A total of six projects were selected for the final stage of the competition after the initial assessment by the jury.

Alongside the three winners, the finalists were:

  • Căla, by Samaya Domínguez de Oliveira and Anna Moya Darós.

  • Komover, by Martin Muñoz Rodera.

  • Més Enllà, by Laura Huguet Nono, Elisabeth Rose Langford and Anna Llimós Verdaguer.

All six finalists presented their initiatives to the audience at the Centre Cultural de Jesús before the final results were determined.

The jury included representatives from the business community, financial sector, engineering profession and regional entrepreneurship services. Its members were M. Àngels Marí, Daniel Ramón, Patricia Gómez, Mateu Oliver Montserrat and Pere Jiménez.

More than €6,000 in vouchers and business support

The Ingenion competition provides financial support in the form of shopping vouchers, alongside professional business advice and additional gift cards.

The first-place project receives €4,000 in vouchers, 18 months of Pimeef business advice and a €100 La Sirena-Art gift card.

The second-place project receives €1,500 in vouchers, 12 months of advice and a €100 gift card, while the third receives €600 in vouchers, six months of advice and a further €100 gift card.

The programme is designed to give emerging businesses visibility, recognise their potential and provide practical support during their early stages of development.

Ingenion brings entrepreneurs and business professionals together in Santa Eulària

Organised by the Department of Training and Employment of Santa Eulària Town Hall, Ingenion provides a meeting point for entrepreneurs, businesses and professionals interested in innovation, business development and employment.

The 2026 forum included presentations and discussions on leadership, entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence, with speakers including Albert Rivera, entrepreneur Yaiza Canosa and artificial intelligence specialist Pablo Cebriá.

The programme also included a tribute to Licores Aniseta, a family business founded in 1925, recognising its long-standing contribution to the business community of Santa Eulària.

Through the annual forum and its entrepreneur competition, the municipality aims to give new business initiatives an opportunity to present their ideas, connect with professionals and access support for their development.

The 2026 results recognise three different approaches to entrepreneurship in Ibiza, from technology for forest-fire prevention to educational projects exploring the history of the Pitiüses and the development of new food products.
