Ibiza and Formentera Cancel and Reschedule Events During National Mourning: What Is Suspended and What Moves to Sunday

October 30, 2026

The three days of official mourning declared following the fatal train accident in Urda, Toledo, have led to widespread changes to cultural, family and Halloween activities across Ibiza and Formentera.

From Thursday 29 October until Saturday 31 October 2026, town halls and island councils have suspended or postponed a number of official events as a mark of respect for the victims and their families. Some activities have been cancelled without a replacement date, while others have been moved to Sunday 1 November.

The changes affect Halloween celebrations, concerts, cultural events, family activities and the popular Fira des Calamar in Sant Carles. Here is a municipality-by-municipality overview of the announced changes.

Ibiza Town: Municipal activities suspended from 29 to 31 October

Ibiza Town Hall has suspended its municipal activities scheduled during the three days of official mourning.

The affected programme includes:

  • Halloween activities at the Espai Jove on Friday and Saturday.

  • The Halloween-themed craft workshop at the Municipal Library on Friday.

  • The Ones de Llum concert scheduled for Friday in Sant Mateu.

  • The II Trobada de Corals Lina Bufí, which was due to take place on Saturday at 20:00 in the church of Sant Antoni.

The choral gathering was scheduled to bring together the Cor Parroquial de Sant Antoni, Cor de ses Figueretes, Cor de l’Església Catòlica Grega Ucraïnesa and Cor Ciutat d’Eivissa.

New dates for these activities had not been announced in the published update.

Santa Eulària: Fira des Calamar postponed and performances rescheduled

Santa Eulària Town Hall has officially confirmed the postponement of two major events forming part of the Sant Carles festivities.

These are:

  • Fireta des Calamar: Friday 30 October.

  • X Fira Gastronòmica des Calamar: Saturday 31 October.

Both events are postponed, and the Town Hall will announce new dates later.

The Saturday guided walk in Sant Carles, which was due to begin at 10:00 from the village church, has also been reported as cancelled.

Two cultural performances have been moved to Sunday 1 November:

  • Retrats d’amor, by Dúo Vives-Laliga, will take place at 19:00 at the Centre Cultural de Jesús.

  • Sueños 2, originally scheduled for Saturday at the Ibiza Conference Centre, will take place at 20:00 at the same venue.

Sant Josep: Halloween activities move to Sunday 1 November

Sant Josep de sa Talaia has postponed several events as part of the official mourning period.

The Santa Teresa festivities in Es Cubells scheduled for Thursday 29 October have been postponed, with replacement dates to be announced.

The presentation of El cancionero de Can Pere Mosson, scheduled for Friday 30 October at 20:00 in the Juan XXIII hall in Es Cubells, has also been cancelled and is awaiting a new date.

The Friday horror-film screenings in Sant Josep and Cala de Bou have been cancelled.

However, the Halloween and All Saints' activities originally planned for Saturday 31 October in Sant Jordi and Cala de Bou have been moved to Sunday 1 November.

Sant Jordi:

  • Children's workshops organised by Kairo’s, from 17:30 to 19:30.

Sant Josep organ concert moved to Sunday

The concert Els teclats virtuosos: la passió dels 15 anys, part of the programme marking 20 years of the organ in Sant Josep, has also been rescheduled.

It will now take place on Sunday 1 November at 12:00 in Sant Josep Church.

Sant Joan de Labritja: All municipal events suspended

Sant Joan de Labritja Town Hall has suspended all municipal events scheduled for 29, 30 and 31 October.

The measure was announced as a gesture of respect and solidarity with the victims of the train accident and their families.

No replacement dates were specified in the published announcement.

Formentera: Three activities suspended

The Formentera Island Council has suspended three activities scheduled during the official mourning period.

These include:

  • Jornades Joan Marí Cardona: scheduled for Thursday 29 October.

  • Casal de Joves Halloween party: scheduled for Saturday 31 October and including a tunnel of terror.

  • Gianni exhibition opening: scheduled for Saturday 31 October at the Centre Antoni Tur «Gabrielet».

The Consell said it would provide information about possible new dates at a later stage.

What about private Halloween parties and venues?

The announced changes primarily concern events organised by public institutions and activities included in municipal or island council programmes.

The national mourning decree establishes the official mourning period and the requirement for flags on public buildings to fly at half-mast. It does not itself announce the cancellation of every privately organised event.

Private venues, clubs, restaurants and event organisers may make their own decisions about their programmes. Visitors should therefore check directly with the relevant organiser before travelling or attending an event.

The situation remains subject to further updates as institutions and organisers confirm whether postponed activities will return to the calendar.
