Sant Antoni Port Awards €736,890 Contract to Replace Two Floating Pontoons

October 28, 2026

PortsIB has awarded a €736,890 contract to replace two floating pontoons at the Port of Sant Antoni de Portmany in Ibiza. The works will be carried out by Astilleros Amilibia U., S.L., with an execution period of four months.

The contract was announced by the Balearic Government’s Department of the Sea and Water Cycle on 27 October 2026. It covers the replacement of floating pontoons 1 and 2, as part of the regional port authority’s ongoing maintenance and renewal programme.

The award is worth €736,890 including VAT, although waste-management costs are excluded from this figure.

Contract Breakdown and Timeline

The contract comprises €609,000 for the construction works and €127,890 in value-added tax.

The four-month execution period will begin on the day following the signing of the site-setting-out verification record. This means the construction timetable is linked to that formal contractual milestone, rather than automatically beginning on the date the award was announced.

The investment will be financed from PortsIB’s own budget.

Replacing Existing Port Infrastructure

The project focuses on renewing the two existing floating pontoons, numbered 1 and 2, at the Port of Sant Antoni.

According to PortsIB, the works form part of its wider programme to maintain and renew port infrastructure under the authority of the Balearic Islands Government. The stated objective is to preserve the facilities and support the proper operation of the region’s ports.

The announcement does not specify whether the replacement will increase the number of available moorings, how many berths may be affected during construction or whether temporary operational restrictions are planned.

PortsIB’s Infrastructure Maintenance Programme

PortsIB is responsible for managing ports under the authority of the Balearic Islands Government. Its maintenance and renewal work includes projects intended to preserve existing facilities and ensure that port infrastructure remains suitable for its operational needs.

The Sant Antoni contract is one such intervention, targeting two floating pontoons rather than announcing the construction of an entirely new marina.

Further details about the start of the works and any potential impact on port users will depend on the implementation schedule and subsequent information from PortsIB.

The project represents a public investment of €736,890, excluding waste-management costs, to renew part of the infrastructure at one of Ibiza’s main ports.
