Las Dalias Ibiza brought its 2026 summer season to a close with its traditional Family Day on Thursday, 5 November, gathering the artisans, market traders, employees, artists and collaborators who contribute to the identity of one of Ibiza's best-known cultural landmarks.
Held at the iconic market in Sant Carles, the annual celebration was dedicated to recognising the people behind Las Dalias and thanking them for another season of creativity, hard work and shared experiences. The gathering included a traditional ceremony honouring the Earth, tributes to two women connected to the market's history, awards for outstanding market stalls and an afternoon of food, music and entertainment.
A Traditional Ceremony to Give Thanks to the Earth
The celebrations began at 13:30 with the traditional Pago a la Tierra, a ceremony led by María Valdivia, who acted as mistress of ceremonies.
Around 400 people, including workers, artists and friends of Las Dalias, took part in the gathering. Participants brought flowers, seeds, wine, herbs, coffee and honey as offerings to Pachamama, expressing gratitude for the natural world and the fruits of the season.
Rain accompanied the beginning of the celebration and was welcomed by those attending as a positive sign, symbolising abundance and prosperity.
Santa Eulària des Riu mayor Carmen Ferrer was also present at the event, which once again highlighted the importance of the community surrounding Las Dalias.
Special Tributes to Two Women in the History of Las Dalias
Two particularly emotional moments of the afternoon were dedicated to recognising women whose lives and contributions are closely connected to the history of the market.
The first tribute honoured Anne Elisabeth Windelschmidt, who arrived in Ibiza in 1968 and became associated with the island's fashion scene and the bohemian, creative community that helped shape its cultural identity.
Lucía Marí also received special recognition. Sister of Juanito and a longstanding member of the Las Dalias family, she has witnessed and contributed to the evolution of the market over the years.
Both tributes reflected the central role that individuals and personal stories have played in the development of Las Dalias since its beginnings.
Las Dalias Announces Its Best Market Stalls of 2026
Another highlight of Family Day was the presentation of the annual awards recognising the market's most outstanding stalls.
The winners were selected through visitor surveys conducted throughout the season, giving customers the opportunity to recognise the creativity, originality and hospitality of the traders.
Three categories were awarded, each carrying a prize of €350.
The 2026 winners were:
-
Imaginative Artesano: Awarded for the most beautiful stall.
-
Las Almaritas: Recognised as the most original stall.
-
Aromystik: Awarded for the friendliest stall.
Aromystik enjoyed a particularly memorable moment, appearing among the winners in all three categories. The team had to return to the stage three times to collect its recognitions, becoming one of the afternoon's most entertaining moments.
A Family Barbecue, Karaoke and Music to Close the Celebration
Following the tributes and award presentations, the gathering continued with a family barbecue, bringing everyone together to enjoy food and celebrate the end of another season.
A Karaoke Battle added a playful element to the afternoon, while music and informal celebrations provided the perfect setting for artisans, staff, artists and collaborators to spend time together away from their usual work at the market.
Founded in 1954, Las Dalias has developed into much more than a traditional hippie market. Its identity has been shaped by generations of artisans, designers, musicians, workers and visitors who have contributed to its creative and cultural atmosphere.
The 2026 Family Day was a reminder of that collective history, celebrating not only another successful season but also the people who continue to give Las Dalias its distinctive character.
