Older Residents in Ibiza to Meet National Police Over Scam Prevention at Can Ventosa

October 16, 2026

The fourth edition of ‘Els majors prenem un cafè amb la Policia Nacional’ takes place on Friday, 16 October, at 10:00, offering older residents an informal opportunity to ask officers about scams and personal safety.

Older residents in Ibiza Town will have the opportunity to discuss fraud prevention directly with the National Police during a new session of Els majors prenem un cafè amb la Policia Nacional, an initiative designed to provide practical security advice in an informal setting.

The fourth edition takes place on Friday, 16 October 2026, at 10:00 at Esplai de Can Ventosa. Entitled Estafas y más (“Scams and More”), the session will focus on scams targeting older people and give attendees the opportunity to raise concerns and ask questions.

The event is organised by the Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Esplai de Can Ventosa, with the collaboration of Ibiza Town Council through its Department for Older People.

Police Officers to Explain How to Recognise Scams

Officers from the National Police's Citizen Participation Unit will lead the session, explaining ways to recognise and prevent fraud.

The format is intended to encourage open conversation rather than a formal lecture. Participants will be able to share a coffee with the officers, discuss their concerns and ask questions about situations they may encounter in everyday life.

The aim is to help older residents identify potential risks and understand what precautions they can take to protect themselves.

Part of the National Police's Older People's Security Plan

The initiative forms part of the Plan Mayor de Seguridad, a national programme developed by the Ministry of the Interior and implemented by the National Police and Civil Guard.

The programme aims to prevent crimes that particularly affect older people, including scams, theft, fraud involving bank accounts and the misuse of personal property.

Through direct contact with residents, the National Police's Citizen Participation Unit can also hear about their concerns and provide guidance tailored to the risks they face.

The programme operates throughout the year through the National Police station in Ibiza, complementing the specific activities organised for older residents in the municipality.

A Community Initiative at Can Ventosa

The coffee meetings provide an accessible setting where older residents can seek information and discuss personal safety without needing to attend a formal appointment.

The collaboration between the retirees' and pensioners' association, Ibiza Town Council and the National Police is intended to strengthen awareness of fraud prevention and encourage people to seek advice when something appears suspicious.

The session on Friday, 16 October, will focus on scams and other related concerns under the title Estafas y más.
