What Is Ibiza Like in October and What Is Still Open?

October 01, 2026

October is the month when Ibiza changes pace.

The first half of the month still has warm days, comfortable sea temperatures and the final major club closings of the 2026 season. As the month progresses, the island becomes quieter, seasonal businesses gradually close and Ibiza returns more noticeably to its year-round rhythm.

That does not mean Ibiza shuts down. Many restaurants, hotels, shops, cultural attractions and local businesses continue operating, while autumn is an excellent time for walking, cycling, exploring villages and enjoying the island without the intensity of the summer months.

What is the weather like in Ibiza in October?

October is mild rather than reliably summery.

According to AEMET's climate normals for Ibiza Airport, October has an average daily maximum temperature of 24°C and an average minimum of 16.5°C. The overall monthly mean temperature is 20.2°C. AEMET records around 58 mm of average rainfall, approximately 5.6 days with at least 1 mm of rain and around 205 hours of sunshine during the month.

The weather can therefore be very pleasant during the day, but evenings are noticeably cooler than in July and August.

Rainfall is also more likely than during the height of summer. October is one of Ibiza's wetter months, and storms can produce short periods of heavy rain even when much of the month remains sunny.

A light jacket or sweater is useful for evenings, particularly later in the month.

Can you still swim in Ibiza in October?

Yes.

The sea retains much of the heat accumulated during summer, making October one of the more comfortable months for swimming outside the main summer season.

The first half of the month is generally the better choice for visitors specifically looking for beach and swimming time, although sea temperatures and personal comfort vary.

The official Ibiza tourism service also recommends autumn for enjoying the island's nature, walking, cycling, gastronomy and quieter coastal landscapes.

The first half of October is still about the closings

For visitors coming specifically for nightlife, the biggest difference is between the beginning and end of October.

The major 2026 closing weekend is concentrated around October 9 to 11, with several of the island's largest clubs holding their final major events during those dates.

Hï Ibiza closes on October 9, while Ushuaïa Ibiza, Amnesia, [UNVRS] and other major venues have their main finales on October 10. Pacha, O Beach and Destino Five follow on October 11.

Some events continue beyond the main weekend, including additional parties on October 12 and later in the month.

So if your main reason for visiting Ibiza is clubbing, the first 11 days of October offer a very different experience from the final weeks of the month.

What happens after the closings?

The nightlife does not disappear overnight.

Once the largest clubs finish their seasons, a smaller number of venues continue hosting events.

Current 2026 schedules show parties continuing after October 12 at venues including Es Paradis, Akasha, Chinois Ibiza and selected boat events. Chinois is scheduled to continue into November, while other venues finish earlier.

The scale is simply much smaller than during the main summer season.

For visitors looking for a full programme of major club nights every evening, late October is therefore a very different proposition from early October.

Is Ibiza still busy in October?

The island is considerably quieter than during July and August.

The difference is particularly noticeable at beaches, viewpoints, roads and some of the island's most popular tourist areas.

That quieter atmosphere is one of the reasons Ibiza's official tourism organisation promotes autumn as a good time to discover nature, rural paths, villages, cultural heritage and local gastronomy.

It is also easier to explore places such as Dalt Vila without the intense heat and crowds associated with the middle of summer.

What remains open?

Ibiza does not close as soon as the club season ends.

In Ibiza Town and Santa Eulària in particular, there is substantial year-round activity, with restaurants, shops, accommodation and local services continuing beyond the summer season.

The island's official tourism service actively promotes Ibiza as a destination throughout the year and highlights autumn activities including walking, cycling, cultural experiences, local celebrations and gastronomy.

At the same time, visitors should expect some seasonal businesses to close.

Beach clubs, chiringuitos, hotels and restaurants that depend heavily on summer tourism tend to reduce their opening days or close progressively as October advances.

This is particularly noticeable in areas whose businesses are heavily oriented towards the summer tourist market.

Beaches and beach clubs

The beaches themselves are, of course, still there.

What changes is the level of service around them.

In early October, many popular beaches can still feel lively, particularly during sunny weekends. As the month progresses, some seasonal restaurants, beach bars and other services begin closing for the winter.

That means October is excellent for visiting the island's coves and beaches if your priority is the landscape, swimming, walking or a quieter atmosphere.

It is less suitable if you expect every summer beach venue to remain open until the end of the month.

Formentera is still an option

A day trip to Formentera remains possible in October.

Ferries between Ibiza and Formentera operate beyond the summer season, although services become less frequent as the season progresses.

The island itself also begins its seasonal transition, with some beach services and tourist businesses gradually closing.

For a day trip, it is therefore worth checking the ferry timetable and the opening status of any specific restaurant or activity before travelling.

October is good for exploring Ibiza on foot

One of the biggest advantages of October is the temperature.

Walking through Dalt Vila, exploring rural paths or following coastal routes is considerably more comfortable than doing the same during the hottest part of summer.

The official Ibiza tourism organisation specifically highlights autumn as a period for walking, cycling, exploring rural landscapes, visiting villages and discovering the island's cultural heritage.

The changing light also gives the landscape a different character, particularly around sunrise and sunset.

Markets and local events continue

October is not simply the end of the party season.

The island's cultural calendar continues with local fiestas, markets, music festivals and community events.

The official tourism calendar includes events such as Sonorama Ribera Ibiza from October 2 to 3, the Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza Campagnolo from October 9 to 12 and Jazz Point Ibiza from October 15 to 18.

Traditional local celebrations also continue in villages across the island during October.

The Hippy Market Punta Arabí, for example, is scheduled to continue on Wednesdays through the final Wednesday of October in 2026.

Getting around Ibiza in October

There is one significant practical change for visitors arriving with a car.

Ibiza's 2026 regulation of vehicle entry and circulation applied from June 1 through September 30.

From October 1, the seasonal restriction no longer applies, meaning visitors bringing their own vehicle to Ibiza by ferry no longer need the summer authorisation under the 2026 system.

The end of the regulation also means the seasonal ceiling on rental vehicles no longer applies.

This can make travelling around the island easier than during the busiest summer months.

Is October cheaper than summer?

Generally, accommodation and travel costs become more attractive as the high season ends, although prices can still rise around the major closing weekend.

The first part of October remains popular because of the final club events, so accommodation in areas such as Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza Town and other nightlife centres can remain relatively expensive around October 9 to 11.

Later in the month, demand generally falls as more seasonal businesses close.

The trade-off is that lower prices come with a smaller choice of hotels, restaurants, beach clubs and other seasonal services.

Is Ibiza worth visiting in October?

For many travellers, October offers a very different version of Ibiza.

The first part of the month can combine warm days, beach time, the final major club parties and a quieter island than in the height of summer.

The second half is more peaceful, with fewer visitors and a stronger focus on local life, nature, culture and year-round businesses.

It is not the month to choose if you want every beach club, restaurant and nightlife venue operating at full summer capacity.

But if you want to walk, explore, eat well, visit villages, enjoy the coast and still have the possibility of swimming, October can be an excellent time to experience Ibiza beyond its busiest season.

The key is simply to choose your dates carefully.

Early October is still Ibiza's closing season.

Late October is much closer to the island's winter rhythm.
