A unique evening of live music is coming to Ibiza’s southern coast this Friday, September 11, as Faith Converters presents “Del classicisme a la música contemporània” at the Centre d’Interpretació de Sa Caleta.

The outdoor performance will begin at 9:30pm and is completely free to attend.

Rather than following the format of a conventional classical concert, the production will combine piano, cello, percussion, voice and dance while moving between music from different periods and styles.

The event forms part of the Consell Insular d’Eivissa’s 2026 programme of cultural activities at heritage sites and is being organised by Eivissa Escènica.

From Saint-Saëns to Hania Rani

The musical journey has been designed to connect composers from very different generations.

The programme will include works by Camille Saint-Saëns alongside pieces by other major composers including Astor Piazzolla, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Frédéric Chopin.

The repertoire will then move into contemporary territory with music by Polish composer and pianist Hania Rani.

The idea is not to separate classical and contemporary music, but to demonstrate how different musical languages can coexist within the same performance.

Four performers will create the production

Faith Converters will appear with a four-person lineup.

Joan Carles Marí will perform percussion, Carlos Vesperinas will play cello, Pablo García will perform on piano, and Raquel Ortiz will contribute both voice and dance.

The combination gives the concert a broader theatrical dimension, with movement and vocals becoming part of the musical experience rather than remaining separate from it.

The setting is part of the experience

The concert will take place outdoors at the Centre d’Interpretació de Sa Caleta, immediately beside the archaeological area associated with the ancient settlement.

The choice of location is central to the concept of the event.

Sa Caleta is one of Ibiza’s most important archaeological sites

The Phoenician settlement at Sa Caleta is part of the UNESCO World Heritage property “Ibiza, Biodiversity and Culture”.

UNESCO identifies the site as significant evidence of Ibiza’s earliest Phoenician occupation, dating to the eighth century BC, and highlights its importance in understanding Phoenician and Carthaginian urban and social life in the western Mediterranean.

The settlement was eventually abandoned at the beginning of the sixth century BC, with its inhabitants moving to the area that developed into the city of Ibiza.

This gives Friday’s concert a particularly strong cultural context: contemporary artistic creation will take place beside a landscape that preserves evidence of more than 2,500 years of Ibiza’s history.

A new interpretation centre adds another layer

The Centre d’Interpretació de Sa Caleta opened as a dedicated visitor and interpretation space in 2025, helping explain the archaeological significance of the Phoenician settlement and the area’s layered history.

The centre occupies restored structures and uses exhibitions and interpretation material to explain the ancient settlement and its role in Ibiza’s Mediterranean history.

That makes it a natural setting for a programme specifically designed to connect culture with heritage.

Part of a wider heritage programme

The Faith Converters concert is one of the activities taking place through the island’s 2026 cultural programme at heritage sites.

The initiative is designed to bring artistic activity to historically significant locations and encourage residents and visitors to experience Ibiza’s heritage through different cultural disciplines.

In this case, music becomes a way of activating the Sa Caleta landscape without separating it from its historical significance.
