The Ibiza Town Council will hand over the keys to seven newly rehabilitated homes in Sa Penya on Monday, as part of its efforts to expand affordable housing in the city.

The homes will be offered as affordable rental housing under the municipality's Ibiza, una ciudad para vivir plan, according to the council.

Seven Homes Rehabilitated in Sa Penya

The seven properties are located on Carrer Vista Alegre, Carrer Retir and Plaça de sa Drassaneta, in the historic Sa Penya neighbourhood.

Two of the homes were previously commercial premises that have been converted into housing under regulations established by the Balearic Government, allowing existing spaces to be brought back into residential use.

The project forms part of the city's wider strategy to increase the availability of housing for residents.

Part of Ibiza's Affordable Housing Effort

The initiative comes as housing availability and affordability remain important issues across Ibiza.

By rehabilitating existing properties and converting suitable premises into homes, the council is seeking to make better use of the city's existing housing stock while bringing more properties into the affordable rental market.

The seven homes in Sa Penya will therefore add to the city's stock of residences intended for people looking for more accessible long-term housing.

Bringing Homes Back Into Use

The project is also significant for Sa Penya, one of Ibiza Town's historic neighbourhoods.

Rehabilitating properties within the existing urban fabric can help return unused or underused spaces to residential use while contributing to the continued regeneration of the neighbourhood.

The key handover is scheduled for Monday, August 31, when the new residents will officially receive access to their homes.
