Ibiza DJ and OuShe founder Santanna Oush dies aged 38
Tributes are being shared across Ibiza's electronic music community following the death of DJ and promoter Santanna Oush, who has died aged 38.
Born in London, Santanna Maria Ally, who performed under the name Santanna Oush, had been a DJ for more than two decades and became a familiar face on Ibiza's music scene after making the island her home. Multiple reports have identified Ally as the woman who died at Houghton Festival in Norfolk, UK, on August 9. She was 38.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation. An inquest has been opened, with a hearing scheduled for December 15, 2026. Authorities have said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
For Ibiza's clubbing community, Oush was much more than a DJ.
Over a career spanning more than 20 years, she became known for her energetic sets and her work across the island's diverse nightlife scene. In recent seasons, she performed at some of Ibiza's best-known venues and parties, including Pikes, Hï Ibiza, elrow, [UNVRS], La Discothèque, Akasha and 528 Ibiza.
Ibiza Spotlight interviewed Oush in 2025, when she reflected on her career and the evolution of her music projects. She recalled playing at Hï Ibiza's Wild Corner, including one six-hour set that she described as a particularly memorable Ibiza night.
Oush was also the founder of OuShe, a DJ platform and party series created to celebrate and support women in electronic music.
The project began at Pikes around five years ago and grew into a travelling platform, with events at venues including Akasha in Ibiza, Stereo in London and Mess in Biarritz. Oush described OuShe as a space designed to give women in music greater freedom, visibility and opportunities within an industry where she believed they had too often been overlooked.
Her influence extended beyond the dancefloor. In 2025, Oush launched the OuShe Radio Show on Ibiza Sonica Radio and continued developing the platform while working on her own music. At the time of her Ibiza Spotlight interview, she revealed that she had completed her first original track and was planning additional music that would eventually form an EP.
She was also increasingly involved in conversations about the future of women in Ibiza's nightlife industry. Oush appeared at the International Music Summit as part of the "Queens of Ibiza, Shaping Nightlife" panel, alongside other prominent women working across the island's electronic music scene. She described the experience as both nerve-wracking and empowering, saying she felt it was time to speak publicly about the issues she cared about.
Her work at OuShe was particularly important to her. In her own words, the project was created to "elevate and celebrate women in music", offering opportunities to experienced DJs as well as women who were just beginning to learn how to play.
The impact of that work was visible across Ibiza. Pikes previously described Oush as the driving force behind its monthly OuShe events, which brought female DJs together to celebrate women's role in electronic music.
Her 2026 calendar showed that she remained active on the island this season, with appearances including OuShe and La Discothèque, as well as further dates later in the year.
News of her death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from friends, artists and members of the electronic music community, reflecting the impact she had built over more than two decades behind the decks and through her work supporting other women in music.
A fundraiser has also been established to help cover funeral costs.
Santanna Oush leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond the sets she played. Through OuShe, her radio work and her presence across Ibiza's clubs and festivals, she helped create opportunities for women while becoming part of the fabric of the island's international electronic music community.
