UD Ibiza produced one of its strongest performances of the early 2026/27 campaign on Sunday, October 4, defeating previously unbeaten Villarreal B 0-1 at the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza.

Pedro Ortiz scored the decisive goal in the closing stages as the Ibiza side secured its first victory away from home this season and ended Villarreal B's unbeaten start to the Primera Federación campaign.

Ibiza Start Strong

The visitors began with confidence and created the clearer opportunities during the opening half.

David Astals had the first attempt from distance before Manu Justo came close to breaking the deadlock. The Ibiza striker had two good chances, including one effort that struck the crossbar.

Ander Yoldi also came close after a corner as the visitors continued to threaten, but the teams went into the interval level at 0-0.

Villarreal B, who had arrived at the match unbeaten and at the top of the Group 2 table, struggled to create clear opportunities against an organised Ibiza defence.

Villarreal B Put Under Pressure

The second half continued with chances at both ends, although Ibiza remained dangerous.

Yoldi supplied another excellent delivery for Manu Justo shortly after the restart, but the forward was unable to convert.

Raúl Llona then used his substitutes to add fresh energy to the team, bringing on Gonzalo Almenara, Ismael Fadel, Iker Varela, Javi Eslava and Pedro Ortiz at different stages of the second half.

Villarreal B appealed for a penalty following a possible handball involving Almenara. The incident was reviewed, but the referee did not award a penalty.

Pedro Ortiz Delivers the Winner

With the match heading towards a goalless draw, Ibiza finally found the breakthrough.

In the 81st minute, Víctor García advanced down the left and delivered the ball into the area. After Villarreal B failed to clear, Pedro Ortiz arrived to finish first time and put Ibiza 0-1 ahead.

The goal gave Ibiza a lead it would not surrender.

Villarreal B pushed forward during the final minutes, looking for an equaliser through crosses and set pieces, but the Ibiza defence remained organised. Andrés Prieto and the players in front of him held firm until the final whistle.

A Valuable Three Points

The 0-1 victory gives UD Ibiza its first away win of the season after defeats on the road against Antequera and Real Jaén.

It also ends Villarreal B's unbeaten run. The result is particularly significant given the quality of the opposition and the fact that the home side had entered the fixture as the Group 2 leader.

For Ibiza, the victory provides a much-needed response after a 0-2 home defeat against Real Zaragoza in the previous round. The team now returns to Can Misses for its next league fixture against Real Madrid Castilla on Friday, October 9, at 21:00.

After a difficult start to the campaign, Ibiza leaves Villarreal with three important points, a clean sheet and its first away victory of the 2026/27 season.
