Ibiza Local Police Record 22 Citizen-Security Reports, Seven Drug-Driving Positives and Two Alcohol Positives

October 06, 2026

Ibiza Local Police recorded 22 reports for alleged breaches of Spain's Citizen Security Law during the weekend, alongside seven positive drug tests among drivers, two positive alcohol tests and numerous traffic-related actions.

The results came from the Local Police's reinforced fourth shift, which operates at night to increase the police presence during periods of greater activity in Ibiza Town.

The weekend operation also included controls against unauthorised passenger transport and cooperation with inspectors from the Consell d'Eivissa and the K9 canine unit from Formentera.

Saturday Night Controls

The first major operation took place on Saturday night in cooperation with inspectors from the Consell d'Eivissa.

Police issued six complaints for alleged breaches of the General Traffic Regulations and three reports for possession of drugs in a public place.

Three vehicles were also removed to the municipal impound facility by the tow service.

During the same operation, officers detected one positive alcohol test and one positive drug test among drivers.

Consell inspectors also reported a passenger transport service for allegedly operating without the required journey sheet.

Sunday Night Brings Further Controls

The reinforced operation continued on Sunday night, with support from the K9 canine unit of the Formentera Local Police.

Officers made six proposals for administrative sanctions following positive drug tests among drivers and another proposal following a positive alcohol test.

A further 19 reports were issued under Organic Law 4/2015 on Citizen Security.

Police also submitted 18 proposed traffic sanctions for different alleged infringements, including dangerous driving and behaviour that obstructed the circulation of vehicles.

These figures are important to distinguish: the 19 Sunday citizen-security reports are separate from the 18 proposed traffic sanctions.

Seven Positive Drug Tests

Across the two nights, police detected seven positive drug tests among drivers.

One was detected during Saturday's operation, followed by six proposed administrative sanctions after positive tests on Sunday.

The weekend also produced two positive alcohol tests, one on each night.

These figures refer to the results of the police controls and subsequent administrative proceedings. They should not be interpreted as final sanctions or criminal convictions.

Action Against Unauthorised Passenger Transport

The Sunday operation also included two reports concerning the alleged recruitment of customers for unauthorised passenger transport services.

The actions form part of the Local Police's ongoing controls against what authorities describe as intrusismo in the taxi and passenger-transport sector.

The Consell's inspectors were also involved in Saturday's operation, when a passenger transport service was reported for allegedly lacking the required journey sheet.

Reinforced Fourth Shift

The fourth shift began operating at the start of summer as an additional reinforcement to Ibiza Local Police's ordinary shifts.

Its purpose is to maintain a stronger police presence during the busiest night-time periods and increase the capacity for prevention, surveillance and intervention.

The operation covers several areas of enforcement, including road safety, citizen security and controls against unauthorised passenger transport.

The use of the Formentera K9 unit on Sunday provided additional support for the drug-control operation.

Traffic and Citizen Security Controls

The weekend figures illustrate the different types of action carried out by the reinforced police team.

On Saturday, officers recorded six traffic complaints and three citizen-security reports for drug possession, while three vehicles were taken to the municipal depot.

On Sunday, 19 citizen-security reports were issued and 18 proposed traffic sanctions were processed.

Across both nights, seven drivers tested positive for drugs and two for alcohol.

Two further reports concerned the alleged recruitment of passengers for unauthorised transport services.

Continued Night-Time Operations

Ibiza Local Police says the results reflect the increased preventive and enforcement presence provided by the fourth shift.

The reinforced service is expected to continue working alongside the ordinary police teams and coordinating with other administrations and specialist units.

The focus remains on preventing risky behaviour, improving road safety, addressing unauthorised passenger transport and maintaining public security during the island's busy night-time periods.

The latest weekend operation therefore resulted in a broad range of police and administrative actions, with the confirmed headline figures being 22 citizen-security reports, seven positive drug tests among drivers, two positive alcohol tests and 18 proposed traffic sanctions on Sunday.
