The Guardia Civil is investigating five minors following an overnight break-in at a golf course in Alcúdia, Mallorca, where two golf buggies were taken and used around the site, causing damage to the course and several facilities.

The incident happened during the early hours of September 4, when the five youths allegedly entered the golf course after breaking through several sections of the perimeter fencing.

Two Golf Buggies Taken

Once inside, the group went to the area containing the technical service hut and took two vehicles of the type used to transport players and equipment around the course.

The youths then drove the buggies around the grounds, leaving extensive tyre marks on the surface of the golf course.

Police also reported damage in the toilet area, where a mirror and several pictures were broken.

One Buggy Crashes Into a Tree

The incident ended with one of the buggies crashing into a tree.

The collision caused damage to the vehicle's front wheel axle. One of the youths involved was also treated by medical services for an ankle injury following the incident.

The second buggy was then used to return towards the point where the group had entered the property before they left the golf course.

Investigation Began With Security Footage

Investigators from the Guardia Civil's Pollença-Alcúdia area began examining the scene and documenting the damage.

Security-camera footage showed that five young people had been involved in the incident. Officers also received information from the Policía Local that a young man had been treated for an ankle injury near the golf course during the same night.

That information helped investigators identify one of the people involved.

One Suspect Identified the Others

After being contacted by investigators, the injured young man reportedly admitted his involvement and identified the other four youths, according to the Guardia Civil.

The five minors were subsequently identified and are now being investigated in connection with an alleged offence of criminal damage.

Because the suspects are minors, their identities have not been made public.

Significant Damage to the Course

The incident caused damage to several different parts of the golf facility.

In addition to the broken mirror and pictures, the buggies left tyre marks across the course and one of the vehicles was damaged in the collision with the tree. The perimeter fencing was also damaged when the group entered the property.

The Guardia Civil has not publicly released a total financial estimate for the damage.

Police Investigation Continues

The five young people have not been described as convicted of any offence. They remain under investigation while the legal process continues.

The case was opened after investigators reviewed the physical evidence at the golf course, examined security footage and followed the lead provided by the injured participant.

The incident highlights how a nighttime intrusion into a private sporting facility developed into a wider investigation after the group allegedly used the golf buggies to drive around the property and caused damage before leaving.

For now, the confirmed investigation concerns alleged criminal damage at the Alcúdia golf course, with all five suspects remaining subject to the juvenile justice process.
