UD Ibiza suffered a late 2-1 defeat to Real Jaén on Saturday, September 19, after surrendering a one-goal advantage in the second half and conceding the decisive goal in added time.

The Primera Federación Group 2 match at La Victoria looked to be heading towards a draw after David Serrano cancelled out Lazo's opener, but Nacho Castillo struck late to complete the comeback.

Ibiza take the lead after half-time

The first half ended without a goal, although both sides created opportunities.

Ibiza came close through Theo Valls, while goalkeeper Andrés Prieto produced several important saves to keep the score level.

The visitors finally broke the deadlock four minutes after the restart.

In the 49th minute, Lazo combined with Víctor García before finishing from close range to put Ibiza 1-0 ahead.

Jaén level through Serrano

Real Jaén responded in the 70th minute, when David Serrano produced a long-range finish to make it 1-1.

The goal changed the momentum of the match and gave the home side renewed belief.

Ibiza still had chances to regain the lead, however, including an opportunity for Javi Eslava shortly after coming on. The Jaén goalkeeper made an important save to prevent the visitors from restoring their advantage.

Winner arrives in added time

With the match approaching its conclusion, Ibiza appeared set to leave Jaén with a point.

Instead, the decisive moment came deep into added time.

A shot from outside the area was saved by Andrés Prieto, but the rebound created a second phase of play. Peque Polo supplied the ball across the area and Nacho Castillo arrived to finish and make it 2-1.

There was almost no time left for Ibiza to respond.

Second away defeat of the season

The result gives Ibiza a second defeat from two away matches in the opening four rounds of the season.

The island side lost 3-2 at Antequera on the opening weekend before winning both of its home games against Rayo Majadahonda and UE Sant Andreu.

The contrasting home and away results leave Ibiza with six points after four matches.

Jaén continues its strong start

Real Jaén entered the match with seven points from its opening three fixtures, having drawn with Huesca before recording wins over CE Europa and CD Teruel.

The victory over Ibiza takes Jaén to 10 points after four matches.

Prieto keeps Ibiza in the game

Ibiza goalkeeper Andrés Prieto played an important role during the match.

Prieto was again involved at the end of the match, saving the initial shot that preceded the decisive rebound.

Ibiza had chances after the equaliser

Raúl Llona made several changes from the bench as he attempted to restore Ibiza's advantage.

Eslava had one of the clearest opportunities, but the Jaén goalkeeper reacted quickly to keep the score level.

The missed chances became increasingly important when Castillo eventually found the winning goal.

A difficult opening away from Can Misses

The defeat continues a clear early-season pattern for Ibiza.

At home, the club has won both of its matches so far.

Away from Can Misses, however, it has lost both games, scoring three goals and conceding five across those two fixtures.

That difference will be one of the main areas for the team to address as the season continues.

Llona's side remains on six points

Despite the defeat, Ibiza remains on six points after four rounds.

Its victories over Rayo Majadahonda and UE Sant Andreu have provided a positive start overall, but the two away defeats have prevented the team from adding to its points total outside Ibiza.

The season remains at an early stage, with 34 league matches still to play.

Ibiza will return home for its next Primera Federación fixture.

Real Zaragoza will visit Can Misses on Friday, September 25, with kick-off scheduled for 21:15.
