Manumission returns to Ibiza this Saturday, September 26, transforming 528 Ibiza into an immersive recreation of the island's legendary summer of 1998.

Running from 17:00 until 05:00, the one-day-and-night experience takes over the entire venue with five interconnected worlds combining music, performance, theatre, art, dancers, drag queens and unexpected characters. The event is the centrepiece of Le Weekend Manumission, a wider celebration taking place across Ibiza from September 25 to 27.

A journey through 1998 Ibiza

Manumission is not being presented as a conventional club night. The entire 528 Ibiza site becomes part of the experience, with guests moving between different stages and environments as the afternoon develops into the early hours.

At the centre is the three-storey Manumission Motel, recreated as a theatrical playground inspired by Claire Manumission's memoir, The Motel: High Times in 90s Ibiza.

The production brings together dance, performance and club culture, with each space given its own atmosphere, soundtrack and cast.

Five immersive worlds

The Manumission Motel takes over the Grand Park Stage, featuring dancers, drag queens, acrobats and other characters as part of the theatrical production.

The Garden Stage hosts Hellfire in the Hong Kong Hot Tub, with Carl Craig confirmed to bring his Detroit techno sound to the space.

In the Forest, Ibiza queer collective XTRA presents Bedroom Bondage à la Japonaise, drawing on Manumission's Manchester roots and its long association with freedom, self-expression and alternative culture.

Other spaces include Le Théâtre Pink Pussy, Roger More's Dark Room, the Insane Asylum and Room 10, creating different environments to explore throughout the twelve-hour event.

David Morales and Carl Craig

The musical programme includes confirmed appearances from David Morales and Carl Craig, while the full DJ lineup remains deliberately guarded.

That approach is part of the Manumission concept. DJs form one part of a much larger production where the performances, characters, theatrical environments and audience all contribute to the experience.

The soundtrack draws from the sounds associated with Ibiza in the late 1990s, including house, Detroit techno and Balearic influences.

The Manumission Motel

The recreated Motel is one of the centrepieces of the event, bringing the stories and characters of 1998 Ibiza into a three-storey stage environment.

The production is being led by British choreographer Jodie Blemmings, with a cast including London dancers and performers. Guests can expect the experience to move between clubbing and theatrical performance rather than following the format of a standard DJ-led party.

Le Weekend Manumission

Saturday's 528 Ibiza takeover forms the centrepiece of Le Weekend Manumission, which runs across Ibiza from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27.

The weekend revisits different elements of Manumission's history while bringing the concept back to the island for a new generation.

Tickets and entry

Manumission runs from 17:00 on Saturday, September 26 until 05:00 on Sunday, September 27.

Current tickets are listed from €103.20, with fewer than 50 tickets remaining at the time of checking. The listed ticket includes entry to Le Monde Manumission before 23:00, access to Le Darkroom de Roger More and Le Théâtre Pink Pussy after 23:00, plus an exit shuttle bus ticket.

The event is strictly 18+, original valid identification is required and there is no re-entry once you leave the venue. There is no strict dress code, although guests are asked to make an effort, with novelty items, beachwear and sportswear not permitted.

For twelve hours on Saturday, September 26, 528 Ibiza becomes a recreation of the world that made Manumission one of the defining names in Ibiza's club culture.

With five immersive spaces, theatrical performances, DJs, dancers and the recreated Manumission Motel, this is a full-scale production designed to be explored rather than simply watched from a dancefloor.
