Two invoices have provided new documentation about the amount of water supplied for the artificial lake created at a private Egyptian-themed party in Sa Pedrera de Can Coix, Sant Antoni, on August 13.

The documents record a total supply of 60 cubic metres of water, equivalent to 60,000 litres, substantially below the 170,000-litre figure that had fuelled controversy around the event.

Two Invoices Record 60,000 Litres

The invoices relate to the same contract and divide the water supply into two 30-cubic-metre deliveries.

Each invoice totals €1,045.44, including VAT, bringing the combined cost of the water to €2,090.88.

The agreed price was €28.80 per cubic metre.

The contract was dated July 14, almost one month before the party, indicating that the water supply formed part of the event's advance planning.

Deliveries Took Place Before the Party

The documentation records deliveries on August 11 and 12, one day before and two days before the August 13 event.

The second invoice also records the removal of the water on the morning of August 14, after the party had taken place.

The documentation therefore shows that the water supply and subsequent removal formed part of the planned event arrangements.

Where Did the 170,000-Litre Figure Come From?

The 170,000-litre figure that dominated the earlier controversy was not based on an invoice documenting that quantity of water.

Instead, it was calculated using an estimated lake surface of approximately 850 square metres and assuming an average water depth of 20 centimetres.

That calculation produces 170 cubic metres, equivalent to 170,000 litres.

The calculation itself is mathematically correct, but it does not establish that the lake actually contained that volume of water.

New Documents Offer a Different Figure

The newly reported invoices document a combined supply of 60 cubic metres.

Spread across the same estimated 850-square-metre surface, that volume would correspond to an average depth of approximately 7 centimetres rather than 20 centimetres.

Photographs from the event also appear consistent with a relatively shallow layer of water, although photographs alone cannot establish the exact volume used.

Organisers Previously Gave a Similar Figure

Van Wyck & Van Wyck, the company involved in organising the event, had previously said that less than 60 cubic metres of water had been used.

The company also said that the water was spread across a large area at relatively shallow depth and that it would be removed after the event.

The newly reported invoices are consistent with that general account, although the final legal assessment remains with the authorities investigating the matter.

Water Was Reportedly Privately Supplied

The documentation and information surrounding the supply indicate that the water was obtained privately rather than from the public water network.

Sources familiar with the operation have said that the 60 cubic metres represented the entire supply used for the lake and that no additional deliveries took place.

That point remains relevant because the Govern is investigating the origin and legal status of the water as part of its preliminary proceedings.

The new invoices do not close the wider investigation.

The Balearic Government opened preliminary proceedings on September 9 after the use of water at the private event was raised in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands.

The investigation is intended to establish the origin of the water, its nature, the legal framework governing its supply and use, and whether any infringement occurred.

The party was held on August 13, when Ibiza was under a pre-alert for drought.

The use of water for an artificial lake became the central environmental issue surrounding the event, generating criticism from political groups and others concerned about water consumption.

The 170,000-litre figure was subsequently included in political criticism and in requests for an official investigation.

The private event took place at the municipal quarry of Sa Pedrera de Can Coix in Sant Antoni.
