The Ibiza Conciertos International Classical Music Festival has closed its eighth edition after three consecutive sold-out nights at the Dominican Cloister in Dalt Vila.
Held from August 29 to 31, the festival brought hundreds of people to the historic venue for a programme combining classical works by Bach and Vivaldi with Brazilian samba and bossa nova.
The event is led by German violinist Linus Roth, founder and artistic director of Ibiza Conciertos, who performed with his 1703 Dancla Stradivarius during the festival.
Bach Meets Brazil
This year's programme was built around the meeting of European classical music and Brazilian musical traditions.
The opening night, “SamBach: From Bach to Brazilian Samba,” brought Johann Sebastian Bach's Violin Concerto together with arrangements influenced by samba and bossa nova.
The programme continued with Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, connected with works by Brazilian composers including Heitor Villa-Lobos, César Guerra-Peixe, Ernani Aguiar, Sivuca and Gadelha.
The festival concluded with a Brazilian Night, celebrating the country's rhythms and musical diversity.
A Different Classical Music Experience
The festival's format aimed to make classical music accessible to a broader audience while maintaining its traditional repertoire.
According to Forbes, the response from audiences was particularly lively, with people singing along, keeping time with the music and, at moments, dancing.
The concerts also featured the Johann Sebastian Rio Orchestra, which travelled from Brazil to perform alongside Roth and bring a Latin American perspective to the European classical repertoire.
Dalt Vila as the Setting
The Dominican Cloister in Dalt Vila provided the setting for all three performances.
The historic location has become an important part of the festival's identity, allowing the organisers to combine classical music with Ibiza's architectural and cultural heritage.
The festival is supported by the Ibiza Town Council and the Consell de Ibiza, with the organisers aiming to bring international musicians to the island while also developing Ibiza as a cultural destination.
Music with a Local Connection
Ibiza Conciertos also has a social dimension beyond its performances.
The festival has collaborated with the Ibiza and Formentera Association Against Cancer (IFCC) since its early editions, donating funds raised through concerts and organising musical activities for patients and their families.
Linus Roth has also visited hospitals and other centres on the island to perform for cancer patients.
Eight Years of Ibiza Conciertos
The 2026 edition marks the festival's eighth year, continuing its effort to bring international classical musicians to Ibiza while presenting the genre in a less conventional setting.
This year's combination of Bach and Vivaldi with Brazilian musical traditions gave the programme a distinctive character, while the three sold-out nights indicate strong audience interest.
For three evenings, the Dominican Cloister became a meeting point for classical music, Brazilian rhythms and Ibiza's historic surroundings.
A Successful Eighth Edition
With all three performances sold out, the 2026 edition of Ibiza Conciertos has ended on a strong note.
The festival brought together an international orchestra, a renowned German violinist and a programme designed to connect classical music with Brazilian traditions.
It also continued its relationship with the local community through its work with the IFCC.
