After 20 Years of SLUIZ, Here’s What the Family Is Doing Now
Published on September 01, 2026 at 01:37 PM
For 20 years, Hans and Yvon helped create one of Ibiza’s most recognisable and unconventional destinations.
SLUIZ became famous for its giant blue cows, colourful interiors, eccentric objects and unapologetically creative approach to shopping and entertainment. But after two decades, the family behind the phenomenon has now closed that chapter — and its creative story is continuing in new directions across Ibiza.
As the SLUIZ name prepares to return under new ownership, a message from the original founders was recently shared by @molon_gallery_, offering the family’s perspective on the end of the original era and what comes next.
The message makes one point clear: the new SLUIZ will be independent of the original founders.
According to the statement, the upcoming project does not involve their original team.
A 20-Year Ibiza Story
Hans and Yvon spent around two decades building SLUIZ into far more than a conventional concept store.
The family brought together fashion, furniture, art, food, entertainment and colourful design, creating an experience that became a destination in its own right.
The enormous blue cows became a landmark, while the unusual interiors and eccentric objects gave SLUIZ an identity that was instantly recognisable.
For many visitors, it became part of their Ibiza memories — a place to explore, take photographs and discover something unexpected.
The End of Their SLUIZ Chapter
The original family's involvement with the SLUIZ brand has now ended.
With the name preparing to return, the founders have clarified their position through the message shared on an Instagram post, stating that the upcoming project is moving forward independently of them.
For longtime visitors, it marks an important distinction between the SLUIZ they remember and the brand's next chapter.
The name may be returning, but the original family is now focusing on its own ventures.
So What Are Hans & Yvon Doing Now?
The message says that people who want to support Hans and Yvon directly can come and say hello to them every Saturday at the Sant Jordi market.
After two decades behind one of Ibiza's best-known creative businesses, it is a much more personal way for the couple to remain connected with the community.
Their creative work is also continuing through the next generation of the family.
The Family’s New Creative Directions
The founders' message highlights three projects being developed by their daughters.
MOLÓN
Ilpha, described as a former Creative Director of SLUIZ, has launched MOLÓN together with her spouse.
It is one of the family's new creative ventures on Ibiza, developing its own identity beyond the former concept store.
JESUS SAVES IBIZA
Ilpha and her spouse have also launched JESUS SAVES IBIZA, another project highlighted in the family's message.
Like MOLÓN, it represents a separate direction for the next generation rather than a continuation of the SLUIZ brand.
DANCING TABLES
Esther, described as Hans's second daughter, is running DANCING TABLES, an event and rental company.
The business brings the family's creative work into the world of events and experiences.
Together, the three projects show how the family's work is evolving beyond the original SLUIZ concept.
A Legacy That Belongs to the People
The founders' message also reflects on what SLUIZ meant to the people who visited it.
They say that while their original chapter has closed, “the real soul of what we built belongs to the people who lived it.”
It is a fitting sentiment for a place that became so closely associated with Ibiza's colourful and unconventional side.
SLUIZ was not simply about what was sold inside. For many visitors, the experience itself was the attraction.
That part of its history cannot simply be replaced by a new sign or location.
Meanwhile, SLUIZ Is Coming Back
The SLUIZ name is now preparing for a new beginning.
The brand has been acquired by Leticia La Valle and her husband, who are working towards bringing it back to Ibiza.
The new store is expected to open in 2027, pending the necessary paperwork for its new location.
The famous blue cows are expected to return as well.
But the revival will be led by a new team and will be independent of the people who created the original SLUIZ.
That gives Ibiza an unusual situation: the name is returning while its original creators are moving forward separately.
The Next Chapter
After 20 years, Hans, Yvon and their family are leaving behind a distinctive part of Ibiza's creative history.
The original SLUIZ created a world that many visitors still remember — from the blue cows to the colourful interiors and the sense of discovering something completely unexpected.
Now, the family is taking its creativity in different directions through MOLÓN, JESUS SAVES IBIZA and DANCING TABLES, while the SLUIZ name begins a new journey under different ownership.
The message shared by @molon_gallery_ ends with a phrase that feels especially appropriate:
“Don’t be afraid of the color.”
The original SLUIZ may have closed its doors, but the creative story behind it is far from over.
