Thursday, October 1 in Ibiza & Formentera: Cala Llonga Hippy Market, GEAS, Art, Live Music & More
Published on October 01, 2026 at 06:18 AM
Thursday, October 1 marks the beginning of October, but there is still plenty happening across Ibiza and Formentera.
The summer season may be winding down, yet the calendar remains busy with local markets, exhibitions, wellness sessions, boat trips, outdoor activities, food experiences and live music.
Today brings the return of the Cala Llonga Hippy Market, a special science and culture programme at Es Amunts, several exhibitions around the island, the Festa del Botifarró in Sant Joan and a selection of live music events stretching into the evening.
Formentera also has its Sant Francesc market, two exhibitions and the first 2026 Joan Marí Cardona Local Studies event.
Cala Llonga Hippy Market returns for October
One of the most recognisable Thursday markets on the island continues into October.
The Cala Llonga Hippy Market takes place along the seafront promenade from 18:00, with handmade fashion, jewellery, accessories, ceramics, artwork and other artisan products.
The market continues every Thursday through October 29, giving visitors several more opportunities to enjoy the evening market after the main summer season.
It is particularly easy to combine with a walk along the beach, dinner or a drink on the promenade.
GEAS brings women in Earth sciences to Es Amunts
At 18:00, the Centre d'Interpretació es Amunts hosts a special event connected with GEAS, Dones que estudien la Terra.
The programme begins with a presentation of the exhibition by the CSIC delegation in the Balearic Islands, followed by a talk from Ana Sevillano, an IGME-CSIC researcher in the Balearics.
Her presentation, titled Un viatge des dels fons oceànics fins a les muntanyes de Balears, explores the Earth sciences from the ocean floor to the mountains.
The exhibition itself presents the stories of twelve women who contributed to the development of Earth sciences from the 19th century to the present day.
The event is free, although advance registration is required.
A very local October tradition: Festa del Botifarró
Sant Joan de Labritja welcomes October with the Festa del Botifarró, also known as sa Torrada.
The event starts at 19:00 and centres on a communal grilling of botifarrons and other pork sausages, followed by a ball per a tothom, with dancing open to everyone.
It is a distinctly local autumn tradition and one of the day's most community-focused events.
Art continues across Ibiza
October begins with several exhibitions still open to visitors.
At Sa Nostra Sala in Ibiza Town, the exhibition by Carles Fabregat and Josep Vallribera continues until October 10.
The multidisciplinary show brings together Fabregat's sculpture with Vallribera's photography, structures and writing. On Thursday, the gallery is open from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 17:30 to 20:30.
At Studio 55 Gallery in Santa Eulalia, Victor Spinelli's The Temple of Excess: Ibiza, Myth and the Manumission Era remains on view through October 22.
The photographic exhibition looks back at Spinelli's images from the Manumission era and is open today from 17:00 to 21:00. Admission is free.
At ADDA Gallery in the Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel, Camille Villegas' Instants continues through October 24. The exhibition brings together drawings, photography and collage and can be visited today from 17:00 to 22:00.
In Santa Eulària, Amparo López's Temps i llum a Eivissa continues at the Sant Jaume 72 Exhibition Hall through October 3. The gallery is open today from 10:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 20:00.
La Nave Salinas and Formentera exhibitions
At La Nave Salinas, Carlos Jacanamijoy's Naturaleza Interior remains open through October 30.
The exhibition combines painting with themes of nature, memory and the artist's cultural heritage. Today, Thursday, the gallery is open from 12:00 to 20:00.
Across the water, Formentera has several cultural options.
The Cati Verdera exhibition at the Far de la Mola cultural and educational space is open today from 10:00 to 14:00. The evening opening does not apply on Thursday.
Pamela Spitz's exhibition at the Sala d'Exposicions de l'Ajuntament Vell in Sant Francesc is open from 11:00 to 14:00 and again from 18:00 to 20:00.
Sant Francesc Market returns
Formentera's Sant Francesc market is open today from 10:00 to 14:00.
The island's official agenda confirms that the market runs through October 31 and operates daily apart from Sundays.
It is one of the easiest markets to combine with a morning around Sant Francesc Xavier.
Joan Marí Cardona Local Studies Days
Formentera's cultural programme continues at 19:00 with the first event in the 2026 Joan Marí Cardona Local Studies programme.
Today's presentation is devoted to the D-ESCARS project, focusing on the digitalisation and systematic study of the cultural maritime value of Formentera's traditional boat shelters.
The event takes place in the plenary hall of the Consell de Formentera.
Morning wellness and outdoor experiences
For visitors looking to be active, October 1 still offers a broad selection of daytime experiences.
Yoga sessions are scheduled at Hotel Riomar, Hotel Galfi and Aiyanna, while Beachouse offers beach yoga in Playa d'en Bossa.
Around the Island Adventure also begins today, with Ibiza Outdoors setting off on an 11-day expedition following the island's coastline, covering approximately 260 kilometres.
Horse as Muse in San Rafael offers a creative countryside experience combining painting, nature and encounters with horses.
For something more adventurous, coasteering, quad and buggy excursions and other outdoor activities are also available.
Explore Ibiza by sea
October has not stopped Ibiza's boat excursions.
A morning Formentera cruise leaves from the Figueretas area, while the Beach Hop Cruise from San Antonio offers a chance to visit Cala Bassa and Cala Conta.
Later in the day, Capitan Nemo has a 17:00 boat trip towards Es Vedrà, while a sunset kayak excursion from Portinatx starts at 18:30.
These activities remain weather-dependent, so checking the operator's latest departure information before setting out is sensible.
Wine, food and relaxed island experiences
Can Rich in Sant Antoni offers guided tours and wine tasting from 10:00.
There are also several hotel and venue day experiences, including OKU Ibiza, Ryans Lolas, Casa Munich, Riomar, 7Pines, Los Felices, Paradiso Art Hotel and Mongibello.
Pool sessions continue at Las Mimosas from 13:00, while Ibiza Food Tours begins its evening food experience in Ibiza Town from 18:00.
Live music from sunset onwards
Music is spread across the island tonight.
Café Mambo's sunset sessions begin at 19:00 in Sant Antoni, while Can Jordi Blues Station has live music from 19:00.
In Cala Escondida, Miguel de Miguel performs from 19:00 to 21:00. Sant Josep's Racó Verd also has an evening performance by Ras Smaila.
Los del Varadero bring their rumba and pop set to Tribu in Cala de Bou from 20:00 to 22:00, while Sa Caleta has its musical evening from 20:30.
Poetry at Can Ventosa
At 20:15, Can Ventosa in Ibiza Town hosts Dones Recitan Lorca.
The recital features actresses Àngels Martínez Corderas and Imma Puerto, accompanied on guitar by Antonio Fernández, performing a programme dedicated to the poetry of Federico García Lorca.
WHO returns to Teatro Pereyra
At 20:30, Teatro Pereyra presents WHO, combining live performance, dining and music.
The 2026 concept continues into the first days of October, with the final listed performances running from October 1 to October 3.
It offers a different kind of evening for anyone looking for theatre and dining rather than a conventional concert.

A few important changes to the original list
The Sant Rafael Craft Market should not be included today. Its 2026 Thursday season ended on September 10.
The Sant Ferran Night Market in Formentera also finished on September 30, so it is not running on October 1.
The Cati Verdera exhibition at La Mola is open today, but the official Formentera agenda shows the evening opening only on Wednesdays and Sundays. Thursday's opening is therefore 10:00 to 14:00.
The Temple of Excess should be listed as an afternoon/evening exhibition rather than a 10:00 event. Studio 55 gives its visiting hours as 17:00 to 21:00.
October starts with plenty still going on
The first day of October shows just how much Ibiza's calendar changes rather than simply stops when summer begins to wind down.
There are still beaches, boat trips, wellness sessions, wine tasting and hotel experiences during the day, while the afternoon and evening shift towards exhibitions, village markets, local traditions, poetry, theatre and live music.
Formentera also remains very active, with its Sant Francesc market and cultural programme continuing into October.
The island may be entering a different season, but Thursday, October 1 is certainly not a quiet day.
