Ibiza is preparing to welcome an international gathering of professionals from the events, protocol, public relations and communication industries in April 2027. ÁGORA 2027 will take place from 26 to 28 April, bringing together organisations, companies, associations and specialists from different countries for three days of professional discussions, workshops, networking and experiences across the island.
The initiative aims to create a shared meeting point for an industry that encompasses many different professions, from event organisers and production companies to protocol specialists, communication agencies, convention bureaux, hotels and suppliers.
Rather than following the format of a traditional congress focused primarily on presentations, ÁGORA is being developed as a participatory experience, with opportunities for attendees to contribute ideas, exchange professional knowledge and help shape the programme.
The main conference venue will be the Palacio de Congresos de Ibiza in Santa Eulària des Riu, while additional professional activities are planned at different locations around the island.
Bringing the International Events Industry Together
ÁGORA 2027 is an initiative promoted by the Escuela Internacional de Protocolo y Eventos (EIP), together with the Red Latinoamericana de Organizadores de Eventos (RELAODE) and the World Public Relations Forum.
The project responds to the growing diversity of the events industry, where professionals from different disciplines frequently collaborate on the same projects but often meet separately through their respective professional associations and conferences.
The organisers want to create a space where these groups can exchange experiences, discuss common challenges and develop stronger professional connections across national borders.
The intended audience includes:
-
Event organisers, agencies and event managers.
-
Protocol and institutional relations specialists.
-
Public relations, communication and marketing professionals.
-
MICE and convention bureau representatives.
-
Event production and audiovisual companies.
-
Hotels, event venues and specialist suppliers.
-
Public institutions and universities.
-
Teachers, students and independent professionals working in the sector.
The gathering is open to professionals and organisations from Europe, the Americas, Africa and other regions.
Three Days of Conferences, Workshops and Professional Experiences
The programme combines professional content with networking and activities designed to introduce participants to Ibiza's facilities, businesses, heritage and event spaces.
Each day follows a different combination of activities, with mornings dedicated mainly to professional content, afternoons to practical experiences and evenings to social encounters.
Monday, 26 April: Opening Discussions and Island Experiences
The first day will feature presentations, conversations, debates, round tables and workshops during the morning.
At midday, participants will have the opportunity to take part in De tapas por Ibiza, a gastronomic networking concept designed to encourage smaller group conversations while introducing attendees to local cuisine.
The afternoon will include professional visits, technical tours, backstage experiences and activities at different locations around the island. Alternative sessions will also be available for participants who prefer to continue with professional content at the main venue.
The evening programme is expected to include social gatherings and informal networking. Possible activities include a gala dinner, a party and sunset experiences, although the specific arrangements are still to be confirmed.
Tuesday, 27 April: Further Discussions and Professional Visits
The second day will continue with presentations, discussions, round tables and workshops.
The midday programme will again combine networking with the De tapas por Ibiza gastronomic experience.
In the afternoon, participants will be able to explore further professional visits, technical experiences and activities across Ibiza, with alternative sessions at the conference venue.
Evening activities will provide additional opportunities to meet other professionals and continue conversations in a more relaxed environment. The final details of these activities remain under development.
Wednesday, 28 April: Final Sessions and Closing
The final day will focus on morning presentations, discussions, workshops and concluding sessions.
The gathering will close with a summary of the main discussions and the official conclusion of ÁGORA 2027, scheduled for 14:00.
Key Topics: Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability and the Future of Events
The programme is being developed around the changes affecting the events industry and the professional skills required to respond to them.
Among the subjects identified by the organisers are:
The future of event organisation: New formats, audience expectations, experiences and the changing role of events in business and institutional communication.
Artificial intelligence and technology: Practical tools, technological developments and new creative possibilities for professionals.
Protocol, communication and public relations: The importance of professional relationships, institutional communication, marketing and strategic planning.
MICE and destination management: The role of destinations, convention centres, venues, suppliers and production companies in attracting and delivering professional events.
Talent and professional recognition: Training, shared professional standards, accessibility and the development of the different occupations within the sector.
Sustainability and responsibility: The environmental and social considerations involved in organising events.
The programme is designed to remain open to contributions from participating associations and professionals, allowing them to propose speakers, debates, workshops and practical experiences.
Ibiza Becomes Part of the Professional Experience
A central element of ÁGORA 2027 is the intention to use Ibiza itself as part of the gathering, rather than limiting activities to a conference building.
The organisers plan to introduce participants to the island's hotels, cultural spaces, heritage sites, gastronomic businesses and technical event facilities.
The experiences being developed include:
-
Hotels and MICE: Exploring hotel facilities, event operations and the organisation of professional gatherings.
-
Backstage and production: Understanding the technical coordination, audiovisual production and logistics behind events.
-
Dalt Vila and heritage: Discovering the opportunities and challenges of organising events in historic and protected locations.
-
Sustainability and Posidonia: Exploring projects connected with environmental responsibility and the island's natural heritage.
-
Technical production: Examining lighting, sound, audiovisual equipment and event production.
-
Gastronomy and events: Discovering the organisation of catering, banquets and food services for professional events.
Some experiences will have limited capacity and require advance reservations.
The organisers' presentation dossier also identifies collaboration with the Consell Insular d'Eivissa and all five municipal councils, with the aim of making use of local venues, heritage, resources and cultural activities throughout the island.
