From Ses Matances to a Serrat Tribute: Es Cubells Announces More Than a Month of Santa Teresa Festivities

October 07, 2026

Es Cubells will celebrate its Fiestas de Santa Teresa with more than a month of cultural, traditional, sporting and family activities, with the 2026 programme running from Friday, October 9 until Saturday, November 14.

Organised by the Sant Josep de sa Talaia Town Hall, the festivities bring together religious celebrations, local traditions, live music, exhibitions, sport, activities for children and community events, with several highlights spread throughout October and November.

The Festivities Begin with Art

The programme opens on Friday, October 9 at 19:30 with the inauguration of “Imaginari 2.0”, an exhibition of sculptures by Jaume Marí.

The exhibition will be presented at the Joan XXIII hall in es Cubells and will remain open until October 15.

The first weekend continues with a mixture of sport and local tradition.

On Sunday, October 11, an orienteering race will take place around es Cubells, with family and popular routes. Registration is required.

Later that day, at 19:00, the church will host a sung Mass featuring the Coral La Encina from Cantabria.

Family Activities and Local Traditions

Monday, October 12 will bring a morning of activities for children and families at the public car park in es Cubells, running from 10:30 to 13:30.

The programme includes inflatable attractions, an aerial hoop acrobatics workshop and an activity to paint fabric bags.

Sport also features prominently later in the month. On October 17, the Fiestas de Santa Teresa Archery Trophy will take place at the es Cubells archery range.

The following day, October 18, a guided excursion to Puig Redó will explore the remains of an ancient fortification. Archaeologist Sergio Moreno will accompany the route, which is expected to last approximately three and a half hours and is described as having a moderate level of difficulty.

Santa Teresa Day and a Tribute to Joan Manuel Serrat

The main day of the festivities will be Thursday, October 15, the feast of Santa Teresa.

The traditional programme begins at 19:00 with Mass, followed by a procession and ball pagès performed by the Grup Folklòric Sant Jordi de ses Salines.

The evening will then continue with “Hoy puede ser un gran día”, a musical tribute to Joan Manuel Serrat.

Importantly, this is not a concert by Serrat himself. The tribute is performed by singer and guitarist Sergi Nebot and pianist Gerard Àvila, both from Castellón. Nebot is known for a vocal timbre that closely resembles Serrat's, while the show combines well-known songs with lesser-known pieces from the Catalan singer-songwriter's catalogue.

The performance is listed at the es Cubells car park and is free to attend.

A Festa Pagesa and the Premiere of Ses Matances

One of the most traditional evenings of the programme will take place on Saturday, October 24 at the Font d’en Xiquet.

The festa pagesa will begin at 20:00 and include traditional games, ball pagès by Grup Folklòric sa Colla des Vedrà and the premiere of “Ses matances”, a comedy performed by the Grup de Teatre des Cubells.

The event reflects one of the central themes of this year's programme: maintaining and celebrating the traditions and community life of es Cubells alongside contemporary cultural activities.

Culture and Community Continue in November

On October 30, the programme will turn towards community and local culture with a lunch honouring older residents of es Cubells.

The afternoon will include the presentation of “El Cançoner de can Pere Mosson”, by Joana Tur Planells and Isidor Marí Mayans, followed by a screening of “Vedraners”, a documentary produced by the Associació de Vesins des Cubells as part of the “Units pel nostre parlar 2026” project.

The celebrations will conclude on Saturday, November 14 with the XVII Concurso de Paellas des Cubells at the local sports centre.

The final celebration will include the paella competition as well as a communal paella, live music and a DJ. Registration is scheduled to remain open until November 8, subject to available places.

A Month of Tradition, Culture and Community

The 2026 Fiestas de Santa Teresa offer a programme that goes well beyond the central religious celebration, bringing together Ibiza's traditional culture with contemporary arts, sport, family activities and live music.

From the opening of Jaume Marí's sculpture exhibition and the October 15 celebrations to the festa pagesa, local theatre, community events and the final paella competition, es Cubells will remain at the centre of Sant Josep's cultural and traditional programme for more than a month.
