Cursa Es Baluards Ibiza 2026: Route Through Dalt Vila, Race Times and How to Register

October 27, 2026

The Cursa Es Baluards returns to Ibiza on Saturday 7 November 2026, inviting runners to race through the historic streets and fortified bastions of Dalt Vila. Organised by Club Atletisme Pitiús and Ibiza Town Hall, the 5.5-kilometre event combines popular sport with a charitable cause, with registration fees from the main race going to AEMIF.

The programme also includes a free children's Mini Cursa and an inclusive category for athletes from ADDIF. Both races start and finish at Vara de Rey, bringing participants and families together in the centre of Ibiza town.

When Is the Cursa Es Baluards 2026?

The event takes place on Saturday 7 November, with the following schedule:

  • 16:00: Mini Cursa for younger participants, including the Sub10 and Sub12 categories and the special inclusive category.

  • 16:15: Mini Cursa for Sub14 and Sub16 participants.

  • 16:30: Start of the main 5.5-kilometre race.

  • By 17:30: Deadline for completing the main race.

The main event is open to registered and non-registered athletes born in 2010 or earlier, subject to the published competition categories and regulations.

The Route: Two Laps Through Dalt Vila

The main race covers approximately 5,500 metres over two laps of an urban circuit, starting and finishing at Passeig de Vara de Rey.

The route takes runners through some of the most recognisable parts of Ibiza's historic centre, including Portal Nou, the Cathedral Square and the narrow streets within the old fortified town.

Participants will also pass several historic bastions, including Sant Jaume, Sant Joan, Sant Bernat and Santa Llúcia, before continuing through additional streets and returning to Vara de Rey.

The course offers a sporting experience through the historic heart of Ibiza, with its Renaissance fortifications and centuries-old urban landscape providing the setting for the competition.

Free Mini Cursa for Children and an Inclusive Category

The Mini Cursa gives younger participants the opportunity to take part in the event, with distances adapted to different age groups.

The Sub10 and Sub12 categories will cover approximately 600 metres around Vara de Rey. The Sub14 and Sub16 categories will complete a route of approximately 1,200 metres.

The programme also includes a special inclusive category in which athletes from ADDIF can participate. Registration for the Mini Cursa is free, and participants are covered by one-day accident insurance.

The children's races make the event accessible to families who want to take part in the sporting activities without entering the main competition.

Registration Costs €5 for the Main Race

Registration for the main Cursa Es Baluards costs €5, including one-day accident insurance. The proceeds will go to AEMIF, an association supporting people affected by multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

Registration for both the main race and the Mini Cursa must be completed through Elitechip before 21:00 on Thursday 5 November 2026.

Places are limited according to the capacity of the course, so participants should consult the registration platform for current availability and the applicable regulations.

Where to Collect Race Numbers and Timing Chips

Participants must collect their race numbers and timing chips in person at the Municipal Sports Board facilities, located at the Can Misses municipal swimming pool.

Collection is scheduled for:

  • Friday 6 November: 18:00 to 20:00.

  • Saturday 7 November: 10:00 to 12:00.

Runners should plan ahead to collect their equipment within these time slots.

Why Is This the Second Edition to Take Place?

Although the event is sometimes referred to as the third Cursa Es Baluards, the 2026 race is the second edition to actually take place. The 2024 event was held, but the 2025 edition was suspended because of adverse weather conditions.

The race continues a collaboration between Club Atletisme Pitiús and Ibiza Town Hall, bringing sport, family participation and charitable fundraising into the historic centre.

How to Sign Up for the Cursa Es Baluards

Registration is available through the official Elitechip competition page:

The main race costs €5, while the Mini Cursa is free. Registration closes at 21:00 on Thursday 5 November, and race numbers and timing chips must be collected at Can Misses on Friday evening or Saturday morning.
